Arguing a DD is senseless; even if a piece is not liked, assuming ones opinion to be superior might be arrogant.
So here's my inferior opinion
I don't like this one, it seems wrong. I think my problem with it is twofold: while reminiscent of a geisha, the subject is not apparently Japanese, which is as strange as an Aryan Jesus, to me; the other, I think, is the tones of pink found in the make-up and hair which make me think of artificially flavored strawberry candy, plastic, taking away from the experience.
I think it's clear that my objections stem from my schema and/or prejudices; but of course, when you address a topic to an audience, as all displayed art does, such things are always present in the audience, and meeting or violating them is a choice that has to be made as part of the artistic process.
Still, Congrats on the DD

Thank you so much for your candid opinion.
And it is a valued opinion, btw. I am not here so people can sing my praises.
But, to answer to your comments..
If you have a look through the series of images, you will see that there were some done with more traditional geisha makeup aswell. This was simply our artistic, western adaptation of the stereotypical image of the geisha. My client had a desire to be depicted as one, and so, instead of attempting to completely mimic the look, that due to her caucasian-ness was impossible, we chose to also shoot an "alternative/futureistic" giesha look.
I was not willing or able to supply a geisha wig, as they are horribly expensive, and the cheap ones, are just that... cheap. So, with all this in mind, we created our version of the look.
After all, the essence of the geisha, and kabuki theater in Japan, is all about tranformation, and illusions.
Thanks you so much for your honest, well thought and worded opinion.

I see the others now. Black hair dye might have aided the illusion of the traditional pieces; though I can see how they are closer to form.

Sometimes you have to work with what you have. Even though I don't like it (when viewed subjectively) for the reasons I expressed, I think, when viewed without my biases, (or judged apart from my expectations) the series came out nice.
