Well, he did try sell her in one of the realities. So I guess I understand why she wouldn't say thanks. Then again he saved her in another. So they have a super complicated relationship.

oh my god, they never hugged. jeez, irrational games kept them from paris and screwed them both up, but they couldn't at least have them hug??? beautiful job, by the way. the grays add so much to the depth of the emotion.

Been a fan of Bioshock since first climbing out of that wrecked plane in 1997 and even today, this is the only game where I have felt true sympathy and sadness for the characters and their world. Do agree fully about how much emotion these two endured and at the end of it all wished nothing more than something like to happen with Booker and Elizabeth for all that they saw.
Regardless, kudos yourself for the notable and if not very moving piece of art, sometimes its the simplest of things that can make for the greatest effect. For that have to say truly credit the way you looked deep into the game and saw the story and what happened with these two to understand and furthermore draw out that same sorrow.
Have to say though, your lines do too good of job on the way they capture both Booker and Elizabeth here, from the way Booker embraces her to even the hanging head of Elizabeth almost in a moment of sheer loss and even a bit of relief.
Like the fact you took to the manner of black and white and kept your work very simple, hell even have to say the use of the grey for the most part of the image to the way it compares to skin with the way you light it up it just brilliant. o0o
Even then like how well you captured their own looks, from the smaller and lighter frame of Elizabeth compared the larger and almost beefier look of Booker. As well see you did pay great attention to their clothes and they're designed and even even just seeing the corset of Elizabeth reminds me of when you had to pull that needle from her back, jeez that still sends chills through my back.
You did well to present the emotion and depth that this game shows ImagineTheEnding, hats off to you for having talent as natural as that. *applauses*
And please keep up the outstanding artwork, would you kindly? ^-^

Wow. What a comment! Thank you! I am very flattered! I chose to have her in the corset, because once I wore one, and that would be one of the last things I would want to wear when trying to escape. Especially after having the needle in her back. I mean, that would be the moment where I would say, 'DeWitt, I want a hug. Just because I had a HORRIBLE day."
So I thought it was fitting. And also because I thought the ending was just so sad.

Always love the fact that the Bioshock games make you actually want to hug and sympathize with your characters, that along creates such an experience for gamers that truly lasts then just graphics, challenge and etc.
Sounds like your big of the game yourself though to have taken the time with your work and show it alot of emotion and heart. Was more than happy to share some insight on your skills and yes that ending was one hell of a mind*&^$ and such a sad one that.
Did you by chance see the little extra video at the end AFTER all the credit have gone through? Almost missed it myself, it might help you!
And also don't despair too much Imagine, there's still the DLC coming out that will pick up parts of the story and what Ken Levine has said could add on what has become, perhaps! o0o

I sympathize with you. I didn't expect the twist either (some people said that they guessed the twist rather soon, but I couldn't see it because so much reminded me of Tangled *Liz is like, a mix between Rapunzel and Belle, seriously* and Flynn/Rapunzel's relationship was romantic... not to mention how many games have the rescuee as a love interest... also, I was not familiar with Levine's writing).
But in the end, and when you view the story unfold again from the beginning, I guess you can sense Booker and Elizabeth's father/daughter bond, because of all the little bits of hints scattered here and there (that you could't notice at first, like a lot of other plot related stuff). Even if the true nature of the relationship isn't what you first expected, I don't think it ruins much the appreciation of their relationship. They still have a really touching bond... as father and daughter.
Speaking of which, I got the Luteces wrong too... TWICE, ahah. Oh, Levine.
Save the shooting (which is too much *almost gratuitous at times* and boring), this game was the first one since a long loooong while to make me feel stuff. Sure, it's not perfect but... darn, if Levine makes another game after this one and learns from his mistakes, it could be the best game ever.

Wow that was a good summary to how i was feeling too! I think I'll feel better about it after replaying the game and know the true relationship and see it as a father protect a relatively reluctant daughter, and again, I did the same with the Lucteces lol And I personally am anticipating more Bioshocks, not for a long time obviously, but I can dream haha

Yeah, I thought they were going to end up together too... and I wanted them to go to Paris. Last time I'll ship a pairing from a game before said game is out.
And if the Luteces were to dew itt, I think it'd be.... selfcest? I don't know, they're technicaly the same person.

ErikaVoyager In reply to darksouloftheworld [2013-04-20 05:30:44 +0000 UTC]
Lol... the Luteces...
First, I was like "Who is this weird married couple ?"
Then, I was like "Siblings ? Ah ! Ok, that's cool too." and finally
"Okay, waiiittttt a minute... they're genderbent version of each other !? OMG !"
Twistception, really.
However, I do think that there ARE romantic undertones with those two... at least, coming from Rosalind. So, yeah... selfcest/narcissism, I think there is a bit of that.

darksouloftheworld In reply to ErikaVoyager [2013-04-20 10:11:40 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, ultimate narcisim.
I laughed when I noticed that Robert was painting a portrait of himself while Rosalind was posing for him.
Perhaps he sees himself posing and when Rosalind looks at the painting, she sees herself.

You need to make Booker taller than her. That way, when he hugs her, he looks more like a big, protective father hugging the daughter that he so wronged. I know I feel protected when my dad hugs me and my head doesn't even meet his chin. It'll make Booker seem strong. Maybe bury his face in her hair or have him glaring over her head at anything that would try to hurt her. That'll seem so sweet!
Keep their expressions, but Elizabeth should be in more clothes. At first, I thought she was with some weird guy. THEN, I thought this was some creepy coupling of Booker and Elizabeth. FINALLY, I looked at the title and realized what it meant. It is VERY heartwrenching. I don't know if you purposefully did it in black and white, but it WORKS!!! The emotion on Elizabeth's face is anything BUT black and white. OH! Just amazing.
(Sorry if I seemed like a critic, but I'm very into body language and this is such a gorgeous idea. I couldn't help but envision it how I would do it...If I could draw... You are allowed one free punch in my face at any time...)
