Description
Among the dark hunters were six members of the same race, the Skakdi. Over time, the six of them teamed up more than once, and despite the intense distrust and dislike they had for each other, they found they worked well together, and eventually found themselves banished from the hunters. They decided to strike out on their own, taking the curse word that they were labeled by their former leader- Piraka. Their mission? To find the legendary Mask of Life, a fabled Mask of immeasurable power and worth. They tracked the legends to the barren island of Voya Nui, a harsh rocky chunk of land in the middle of nowhere. The Piraka were shocked to find the island inhabited by deformed Matoran. In order to get intel on the Mask, the Piraka pretended to be Toa, here to save the Matoran. Instead, they enslaved the Tohunga as they searched for the Mask. It worked for a while, until a matoran named Garan became suspicious and began a resistance. The Skakdi are anatomically similar to Matoran, having inactive elemental powers and powerful Kanohi abilities, though with vastly different appearances. Their skin appear in various dull colors, they have large, smiling mouths full of sharp teeth, three fingers, two clawed toes, and have various head protuberances, including hair-like appendages, horns, tentacles, and bony crests.

Zaktan is the leader of the Piraka. He is the most clever and ruthless of the Piraka, and makes sure the others know it. He spends his time alone, scheming, coming up with plans to take down any of his fellows if he thinks he needs to. He was the one who weaponized the antidermis they found on Mata Nui, a weird green substance. With Avak's help, they created the Zamor Spheres, which would turn even the most rebellious Matoran into a mindless slave. Zaktan's most fearsome quality is his Kanohi. Earlier in his life, Zaktan's body was completely torn apart on a molecular level. Worse, though, his kanohi activated the first time, and he stayed alive. He now has the ability to control each molecule of his body to grow, shrink, dissipate, fit through any crack and even attack people internally.
