I recently learned that Hello Dolly and Newsies both took place in the 1890s so I figured "Why not throw those characters into a Christmas get together?" Also, the original Nutcracker ballet premiered in 1892, so there is an inventor who makes a giant Nutcracker (or two). And, just for the heck of it, I threw in a Mary Poppins like beggar woman with a snow owl.
