Description This is a sketch trying to capture and extend the flow of a dress on a woman. one of the best gifts to a man is a beautiful woman, beautifully dressed. because, as shallow as it is, its a doorway into one of the most exciting things in this world- another person. yes, women, i do see you as doors. phwoar look at her brass nob!
Your emotions take hold and you drop down into a warm world, down along with the flow of her dress.

oh also, the figure is taken from a stock photo in deviantart. if its yours give me a shout and i'll add you in this comment.

Heh, I thourght I would never see someone post an artwork that looks like it belongs to Michelangelo.
I love it, I really do.

Hrmm.... I think her left (our right) arm could use a few more shadows, it kinda merges into the dress a bit too much.

i've seen enough, i'm going to stalk you now <3

phwoar michelangelo eh? i think you'r exaggerating a bit there aren't you sweetcheeks. yeah i had to find a balance between her realism and the abstract background, that's why in places she becomes a bit loose.

and not if i stalk you first

This is beautifull work... what i like the most about it are the abstractions you achieve in the background. About the previous comment about the anatomy its spot on, just ignore it... thing is a painting that is worked from stock does not have to be exact, the stock photo is there for the artist to interpret it which you did beautifully, if everyone replicated it would not be the art anymore... I low the flow, the chaos, the passion, feeling of being lost within one self, within ones thought. Keep it up! I expect many more wonderfull paintings from you (:

This isn't one of my better paintings, i think the abstract background to the right of the woman doesn't have enough feeling of 3-d depth for my want.

as its taken from a stock image, i'd expect the anatomy to be spot on, but something about the pose seems a little off...something about the exposed leg doesnt sit quite right, or perhaps its the hidden leg, because the dress that hides it fades into the background and becomes part of it, you cant see where the rest of her form might be...its a case of leaving too much to the imagination. her torso and head are fine (and i mean FINE) and the merging of the dress to the ledge on which she stands is inspired. you might wanna work on putting less detail to your BGs, the bg used here is very typical of your style, but here it detracts from your main theme. i rpobably would have gone with bare whites, maybe some greys, nothing too flamboyant.

i do see where you're going with this image though mate, the flow of a gown off a woman's form is one of the many beauties of this earth.

well the idea was to start really detailed at the top: lots of lines, her torso and face, squares, shapes etc. and then fade down into singular colours and broader shapes. It emphasises the drop feel. So the top is meant to be distracting in a way, do you think the bottom bit is overboard too?

nah, i think the bottom works just fine. i especially like the way the red curls up and around, it really gives the drop a fluid active feel.
perhaps if you had kep the detail to the left of the canvas, surrounding the woman, and hen edged off as you moved across then started to lose all detail as you descend down the right hand side... its another one of those experiment jobbies, where ya dont really know till you try.
