Description ..sometimes we lose sight of it.

The Concept
The object used is a praying Angel pendant (1 inch) that a close friend gifted to me. It always reminded me not to give up on hope. The bokeh created by the necklace looked like a sparkling trail ... thus "Trail of Hope" came to mind.

Technique
I have a crummy camera, so I just used Super macro on my point and shoot The rest of the EXIF data is included on the side

The Set-up
I stuck the bottom of the pendant with sticky tack onto my TV and held the necklace up with my left hand.

Post-Processing
Desaturated, cropped and sharpened on Gimp.

If it's a pendent, how is it rising up? o_O

I wrote it there silly! I said that I stuck the pendant on a flat surface with sticky tack!

Thank you! With my sucky camera, it was a bit difficult to get the bokeh just right but I'm happy with it

This is amazing!!! Did you really take it with a point and shoot camera? I use one, and mine are definitely not as good as this!!!

Haha thank you! Indeed I did Well, like a lot of my friends on here say "It's the photographer and not the camera that makes a photograph" I would advise you to keep practicing with all the different functions on your point-and-shoot.. like the Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO etc.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament for a Rolls-Royce. I think it's neat that you got low and face to face with the angel. It makes it feel like it's full-sized, and brings it to life.

It's interesting how you've embodied the concept of hope in that, in a sense...

I like the monotone and how that makes this piece feel more serious, but it also increases the direction in the sense that it doesn't make things distracting if it is only in black and white... We can focus on it more, which suggests that hope can bring clarity to things, perhaps, or that we focus on hope more itself... eh.

The bokeh is lovely and I like the square format, as that is quite fitting in itself.

Thanks! It was either hope or faith, but I thought hope would be a better concept since it's something everyone can relate to, hopelessness in faith even

Yeah I agree, Monochrome shots are usually less distracting since it allows more focus on the subject rather than the surroundings I actually used to submit a lot of B&W shots on my previous account

and thanks for the comment

Yes, that's true enough. I think capturing 'faith' would be more difficult, yes.

Ooh.. so it's almost like revisiting your roots.
