"Maybe you should play a game you don't... Have a...you know... disadvantage with?"

The words stuck in Ethan's head long after the game had ended. And they left a bitter taste.

Because that's exactly how he felt.

And hearing another folk say what he worried about just confirmed that he had reason to worry.

He was at a disadvantage.

And there was nothing he could do about it.

But that wasn't even the worse part.

It was the look of pity.

Like he was a newborn kit, trying his hardest to walk for the first time.

Like he was weak.

Sick.

It made his stomach feel heavy.

But he had to try to ignore those feelings. There was a dance tonight, and he and his friends had already agreed to go together.

And they were going to have fun.

He was not about to ruin that for others.

At least he got to wear his nice suit too.

He enjoyed looking so fancy and adult.

Speaking of which, he should probably go pick it up. Nana had offered to clean a glitter stain off the chest earlier, and she must be done by now.

So he went off to see her.

And was rather surprised to see, not only her and her wives, but his friends with them.

All smiling.

And all gesturing to a... Teal loop?

"Um... Hi." Ethan said, looking to all the folks around him.

"Hi sweetie~" Nana smiled, tapping her loop. "Your buddies told us about the game, so we all thought we would help you feel better." She said, holding out her hand and offering another teal loop to Ethan.

The kit took it and stared in confusion.

"Um, Thank you." He said, trying to offer a smile.

Susan nodded approvingly. "We figured wearing them to the party would show just how much we love you!"

Ethan flicked at ear. "Oh!" He stood up straighter. "Cause we will all match?"

The adults hesitated, glancing at each-other a moment.

"Um, Ethan," Neeko raised their paw. "Do you know what these are?"

Ethan hesitated, then shook his head.

"I told you we should have started with that," Neeko whispered to the others, then smiled to the kit. "This, is a support ribbon. Folks wear them in all different colors to show their support for different things. Some wear a soft green for support in Mental health awareness, while others could wear Yellow for ADHD."

Ethan went eerily still.

"What...Does teal stand for?" He asked quietly.

Susan chuckled and puffed out her chest. "It means we love an awesome kit who just happens to have-"

But she didn't get to finish her sentence.

Because Ethan threw his ribbon to the ground, followed by a tear or two, then bolted out the door without a word.
