I read the manga first, and then found the anime C:Β I think I was around 12 years old.
I use different brands, Reeves water colors and Niji.
I think the biggest problem I have with coloring is I want deep vibrant colors, but water colors just get washed out so easily.
And my second problem is, I'm not that good :/

Oh, I use Reeves too sometimes and I know their pigment is not that strong ~and some colors look ugly like brown -.-~ I want vibrant colors as well, it's just that is a little hard to get some ~especially in my country, where there aren't any~ because they're kinda expensive. For now, it's ok to paint with what you have at the moment and focus on improving with that ^^ and later you can buy new media.

Yeah, the browns, and yellows bother me. The yellows wouldn't be to bad if they weren't so yellow. Like if they had a paint color that looked like really light blonde, instead of just light yellow, I think they would be so much better

I think you should also experiment and combine some colors ^^ I combine yellow with yellow ochre, try that~

Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne was my first, too! I absolutely loved it, watched every episode devotedly as a child in front of the tv (with the rationed out one hour of tv watching time I was permitted).
The only downside of having KKJ as that object of adoration is that... well... Arina Tanemura is amazing, and basically a psycho for detail and style (as a side note also doesn't mind sacrificing story line and coherency for pretty pictures, which I am totally cool with), therefore it is severely difficult to copy her style. This is the closest I've ever gotten: watermelody.deviantart.com/art⦠and this is only very recent, and as a child, it was devastating that all my pictures came out completely differently when I had such perfect intentions.
I really like what you've done, though. Chiaki holding the cross is just perfect imagery. Anatomy-wise for future Arina-style art: longer and thinner arms, less curved lines, and be bolder with shading.

Shading is the hardest thing for me to do >///<
It's always scary to add, because if I mess up it looks awful!
Thanks for the tips

Yeah, I always feel that way, especially with things like markers where there is absolutely no chance of rubbing out mistakes. But the more shading I add, the more depth it gives. It's such a double-edged sword.

What I found works for me is to slowly experiment on each piece of work, it's still super scary though

I know, sometimes I finish sketching and inking, and I think, "Oh, I'll copy it tomorrow before I colour." And then the next day I'm halfway through it before I realize. :/
