the year is 1865, and by the skin of its teeth. the confederacy has survived the American civil war. not won, that would be an insult to the very word "Victory"

To call the survival of the tyrannical slave state known as the "Confederate States of America" a "victory" would be an insult. The Confederacy survived the American Civil war due to low Yankee moral and drive during the war. the draft riots and disease managed to knock out the Yankees to sign a peace deal withe the Confederacy.

America would then, formally and bitterly recognize the Confederacy as a legitimate state. Lincoln, would be ousted from office and would be deported to Mexico for some reason. this would prove to be a major mistake

While in Mexico, Lincoln would continue his political career, his translators and his eventually fluent ability to speak Spanish would help in his campaign to become the president of Mexico in 1870. the French had attempted to collect "debt" in Mexico years ago in 1861, the then Napoleon III, emperor of France, would go to Mexico to attempt to collect this debt.

instead, he was captured by Mexican troops and hanged in Mexico city, in-front of the national palace. This would cause the Second French Empire to invade Mexico, which was routed instantly. the attempted invasion of Acapulco by imperial French troops was routed. Mexican troops managed to push the French back so badly. they dropped out of the war entirely. During the battle, Napoleon III's head was placed on a pike to mock and demoralize the french troops during the battle.

Due to Lincoln, the Mexican people had gained a major abolitionist mindset and hatred for the Confederacy. The Confederacy after the civil war, had gained interest in expanding west-ward. of course, it was mostly the antebellum aristocracy of the south that proposed this. more land, more slaves, which means more profit.

In 1873, The Confederacy invaded Mexico through Texas, the Mexican-Confederate War had begun.

The Confederacy was way over its racist head, due to its survival during the Civil war, many believed that they would win this war as well. which was incredibly wrong. the war would be a disaster for the Confederacy, as Mexico had managed to steamroll over the Confederate Army. the war would end only 2 years later in 1879. Mexico won.

Post-War, Mexico would impose the "Houston-Treaty", where Mexico would annex most of Texas and all of the Arizona territory. also, all slaves in the Confederacy were to be freed. and if they weren't, to quote the actual treaty "If the slaves of the Confederacy are not freed by the end of this month, Mexican troops will burn all your cities to the ground"

The treaty would be humiliating for the Confederacy and would cause it to fall into civil war or the "Dixie collapse" as it is called. what would come out of the ashes, would the Confederate Socialist States of America in 1881.
