Description TV lips mouth words that we
understand but do not comprehend
Light and dust settling to ashes
slash and burn
should not be new to us

Feet jump jumps that most
underestimate and cannot replicate
without an enemy at one's heels
To kneel does not mean
to never stand erect again

So while nature vies for survival
self pity dies, not ingenuity
and in the midst of war a child stands
wild imagination, yet waiting, reaching
one hand for dad, one pointing at the stars

And while darkness encloses hopes that we
shine our light on, we define
the child like coal
holds a sparkle and waits to rise
with flaming wings

TV lips mouth words that we
understand but do not comprehend
Displaced behind our screens we borrow
sorrow and hope and dreams

then we apply crop rotation and fall back to routine

i like the use of the word coal a lot here, because it is something that like the child is produced from the past lives of organisms and is rather dark and formless but has great potential energy embedded in it.
