Description umm, yeah, I wanted to draw a girl with curly hair - I think I did this when I was working (lots of hours) in an engineering department - not a lot of women (and even fewer good looking ones) in engineering departments

graphite pencils on sketchbook paper - I think I used a couple of different lead hardness/softness
done last year I think

personally, I think I used have used a reference at least - the face looks weird - mostly the eyes but some other parts too - need to take a figure drawing class

This is strangely enchanting. At first glance I was turned off by it but after looking again is is quite good. Though the face is off, the mouth is a little crooked and the way you have the eyes drawn one looks much bigger than the other.

In spite of the problems your shading style is wonderful and the body of the figure is very well drawn. I enjoy this and look forward to seeing more, though I would suggest you work on your faces as well as hands.

Thanks for the input - most people when I show them my sketch books say that's great an' I really don't get much from them.

While I'm still in collger I hope I can take a figure drawing class - hopefully for me then I will be able to draw the human figure better. Untill then I think I'll try my hand at the stock photos here.

Thanks again especially about the shading

Stock photos are definately helpful. That's what I use for most of my portraits right now, just because in the small town I live in it's nearly impossible to find models. But be sure when you use stock to draw from don't just try to copy what's already there. Do a few studies paying close attention to the slight differences in proportions in different people, then do portraits that add your own flavor to them.
