Dusk came quickly and Link had decided that it was time to set up camp since he was getting tired.

Thorn slid off Epona first then you, allowing the hero to tie her reins to a tree nearby.

"I'll go get some firewood. You guys stay here."he instructed. Nicolei stood.

"No way, I'm helping."he demanded. Link sighed.

"Fine. ______, you and Thorn stay here."he says. The two of you nod.

"Kay."

Once Nicolei and Link left, you sat in awkward silence beside Thorn. It was hard to tell if you should talk to him. He couldn't speak back and you didn't know sign language.

Yet, you looked at his leg. Surely it would need to be cleaned and rewrapped by now.

Sighing, you move closer to him.

"Hey, we should do something about your leg. It's time to clean it."you tell him. He stared back at you with pursed lips, yet nodded and moved his leg over so you could access it.

He winced as you slowly unwrapped the wound. It didn't look as bad as it did before but it wasn't good. The brunette watched you closely as you poured more water from your cantine onto his wound. He winced as the cool liquid fell into the exposed skin and stung it like wasps.

Once you cleaned it, you quickly rewrapped it and tied it tightly.

You had finished up just as Nicolei and Link returned with wood in their arms.

Heaving a heavy sigh, the boys dumped the wood to the ground and took their seats.

"Now we just have to get it started."Link grumbles. "Starting fires is always hard and a pain." Nicolei shrugged and looked at Thorn who nodded ot him. The youngest brother, quickly scooted over to the wood and held his hand over it, instantly creating a flame. You and Link gawked.

"What?!! You guys can make fire in your hands??!"he shouts. Nicolei shook his head.

"No, just Thorn."he says.

"How is that possible?"you ask. The two sighed and looked at one another.

"When we were little, our mom took us out of town once to some..deep deserted place. I can barely remember now but it was far. There was a fountain there and a great fairy. She asked her to bless us with gifts that would protect us when she...would no longer be able to. So the fairy gave Thorn the ability to control flames in his hand."

Link blinked and sat back.

"Wow...amazing.." You nod and look at Nicolei.

"What did she give you?"you ask.

He was quiet for a moment.

"Just some magic..I don't care to use it though."he mumbles. Thorn yanwed and fell against your leg, letting his head rest on your lap as he fell asleep.

You blushed, yet smiled and rested a hand on his shoulder, massaging it gently as it lulled him into a deep sleep.

Nicolei watched as did Link.

"So...Tell me about your mother..what was she like?"you ask, looking over at him. The boy tensed and looked away.

"She was..you know..Mom-ish. I'm sure she was like your moms."he says.

"I never knew my mom.."Link mumbles, looking into the fire. The colors of yellow, red, and orange reflected against his face and eyes. Nicolei looked at him quickly then down.

"Oh."

"My mom died when I was little too..So I wouldn't know much either."you tell him. "I can barely remember her..So tell us..What's it like having a mom."

"Well..."Nicolei sighed and turned his gaze upwards at the night sky. "It's nice..She would cook us all sorts of good food. She would read us stories til we fell asleep and brush our hair..And always make us feel better when we were sad..usually by singing.." He sighed once more. "Then..before we knew it..She was gone.."

"How did she die..? If you don't mind me asking."Link aks. He looked over at him.

"When the dark Lord Ganon took over...The town flew into panic and many fled as his beasts invaded the town..Since there was nowhere for us to go..We hid..until one came and...Well...She died protecting us." He looked away once more.

Link frowned.

"I'm sorry.." He shrugged.

"It's okay..We were a little younger then..and maybe that's why we were spared. But after that, we had no home. No way to provide for ourselves. So we stole to get by."

"What about your father?"you ask. He suddenly glared ahead as he pulled his legs up to his chest.

"What about that bastard? He's the reason mom had to struggle..While he lived greedily in that castle..."he spat.

"So he was a servant or somebody close to the royal family then?"you ask.

"You could say that.."he growled before turning away. "Doesn't matter anymore though..They're both dead now..Who needs them..."

Link looked at you before moving over to Nicolei and resting a hand on his shoulder. The boy looked at him quickly and he smiled back, wiping away the tears that had sneaked down Nicolei's cheeks.

The boy pulled away, wiping his own eyes quickly.

"Eh?! Don't think you can win me over just because you saw me like this!! I'll still steal and beat up anybody I want!"he barked. You scoffed.

"Yeah right! You're a big old softie!"you laughed.

"Am not!"

"Are too! But you're still a brat! That's probably why your girlfriend dumped you."You say. Link smirked and draped his arm around Nicolei's shoulders.

"Oh?~ What's this I hear about a girlfriend?"he asks. Nicolei blushed deeply.

"She wasn't my girlfriend! She was just a friend!"he barks.

"Either way, tell us about her."you demand. He narrowed his eyes at you and crossed his arms.

"Why should I?"he hissed.

"Because you owe us. We're taking you in after everything you did. The least you could do is tell us about her. Now spill it."Link spoke up. He groaned.

"Ugh fine... She was just some girl.. She'd come around and play with me and Thorn when we were little. Then brought us food and things after our mother died. The end."he says.

"Aw come on! Tell us more! Where is she now?? What happened to her?! Did you like her??"You press. He sighed, blushing.

"So what if I did?" he grumbled.

"So what if you did?? Everything, that's what! You should find her and confess your love to her!" Link beamed.

"Why don't you?"he hissed, glaring at the blond then at you. "Why aren't you two a couple? It's stupidly obvious you like each other."

You and Link both blushed deeply and shook your heads.

"N-no! You got the wrong idea! We're just friends!" You tell him and Link nodded.

"Yeah, that's all!"

But Nicolei wasn't buying it.

"Yeah right! What kind of guy is hanging around a chick in a skimpy outfit all day and not trying to get some booty? Unless..you're gay."he smirked over at Link. "Is that it??"

You snickered while the blond blushed harder.

"No that's not it at all! I'm not gay! I just..I uh..I just happen to respect women! That's why! Unlike you! That's why you lost your girl! You got no respect for ladies!"

"Tch, I got respect. It just didn't matter to her is all." The younger male stood and turned his back to the two of you as he walked away.

"Wait, where are you going??"You called to him.

"To take a piss! Damn! Nosey hag.."He grumbled.

Link chuckled softly while you growled.

"What a brat."

"Cut him some slack _______. He's just a kid."

"Yeah but still..You would think his mother would have taught him manners." You huffed and turned your gaze back towards the fire.

Link stared at it as well, but the happy atmosphere would soon shift to a dark one.

A sharp pain throbbed in his chest, causing him to grip at his tunic, clutching it.

Sweat began to form on his face, sliding down the sides of it.

His pupils began to dilate before forming into slits.

Standing suddenly, he groaned in pain which startled you.

"L-Link? What's wrong??"You ask but he didn't answer.

He only turned and began to stumble away, passing Nicolei who was coming back.

"Hey, what's up with you?"the young boy asked, grabbing Link by the arm.

"Let go of me!!"he yelled, snatching his arm away and shoving Nicolei.

His eyes glared at him darkly, practically glowing in the night.

Nicolei's eyes widened as he saw the fangs beginning to protrude out Link's mouth.

"Y-You're.." he bit his lip before turning and running back to where and Thorn were. "Get up! We gotta get outta here!"He yelled, waking his younger brother.

"But what about Link?"You cried. "What's happening??"

"No tim to explain, we have to go now!!" Nicolei hurriedly helped his brother onto the horse before turning back to you.

Your eyes were glued to Link's back as he began to howl in pain and his body grotesquely disfigured itself.

"Link!!" You called out to him, stepping towards him, but Nicolei pulled you back.

"Don't! If you go over to him, he will kill you! He's a monster!"he snapped at you.

You looked at him.

"N-no he's not! He's hurt! Let me go!" You struggled and squirmed as Nicolei pulled you towards Epona.

"There's nothing you can do! You moron! I'm not gonna let us get killed over your boyfriend! Get on the damn horse now!!"He practially threw you onto Epona's back where Thorn caught you and held you on his lap.

"No stop!! Link!!"you screamed for your friend, yet the only reply you got was a growl.

"Shit.."Nicolei glared as a large wolf began creeping towards the three of you.

It bared it's fangs, showing a nasty snarl while it's peircing blue eyes glared.

You stared at it in disbelief.
