Just a few questions, he says. That's all the officer asks for, and it's what he doesn't ask that speaks the loudest of all. How she's doing, is she all right, that he understands how difficult this must be for her, to describe the horrifying scene she'd happened upon that morning with as many details as she can recall, when she'd like nothing more than to forget it ever happened at all.

The police are used to it, to seeing those sorts of things, so maybe it's easy for this man to forget the fact that she's scared. That most people would be unnerved after looking into another person's face as they hung inverted and lifeless, eyes clouded over, limbs stiffly angled, face frozen in an expression that they couldn't have imagined seeing in reality until it was right in fornt of them.

The facts he wants from her are different than these, but his tone is kind enough, his manner just awkward enough she can imagine that this is shocking for him too, that he doesn't realize how it sounds. Just a few questions, Konishii-san, that's all.

She doesn't want to go to the police station, to repeat the same things over again, but she rises to her feet anyway. He smiles, and she's certain it's kindness she sees there. That perhaps in private, he'll tell her he understands, that things will be alright, that Inaba is still safe, and so is she. It's a lie, and she knows that. Just not nearly well enough.
