Description Photo by: Stephan You Photography ( Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/urielnos… Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Stephan… )

Subject: Eren Jaeger (Me), Armin Arlelt (Sophie - cosplayerphi.tumblr.com/ ) and Mikasa Ackerman (Hao-Ting - www.facebook.com/haotingcospla… ) from Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan

First picture of the Attack on Titan trio I was part of at MCM May 2014 in London, by the amazing French photographer Stephane You. Keep in mind this was taken at con, which is pretty impressive, I really hope to take more pics with him because his work is lovely. Check out his page!!

COSTUME INFO:

The challenge posed by this costume was a very new one for me: to make three identical outfits together with two friends from two different continents (Hao-Ting is Taiwanese and Sophie is American), while living and studying in a college abroad, with little to no space and very few tools. You can imagine it was not an easy task and, everything considered, I'm quite happy with the final result, although it's far from perfect.
The jackets and the boots are the only pieces we HAD to buy, because the very cheap sewing machine we managed to buy here in England was not good enough to work with fake leather, and we badly wanted the jackets to be made of that fabric. The rest was all handmade, with Hao-Ting sewing the trousers and my shirt, while I directed the whole prop-making process, which took all the three of us to accomplish in the little time we had (15 days, roughly). The belts are real leather, which we cut and studded ourselves to obtain a high level of resistance, in order to them to carry all the weight of the 3D gear pieces.
The 3D gear itself, as well as the swords, was completely made of wood, with some plastic and foam details. The tanks are pvc pipes, combined with a bottle of water and a hydraulic part for the front valve. The swords' handles are real bicycle breaks we bought and modified, before attaching them to the weapon. Remember that everything was made without any electrical tool, all the sanding and polishing was done by hand, thus we decided to hide the inevitable flaws under a "damaged" paint job.

This whole experience was amazingly fun, although stressful, and demonstrated me how cosplay can really unite people coming from different cultures and realities under the same banner, to accomplish a common goal. Hao-Ting and Sophie are not only dear, dear friends to me, but also awesome team mates and the "best performance" prize we won at MCM was the climax of this different but awesome adventure we shared.
