I haven't posted much lately due to my lack of a scanner, but I was finally able to borrow one at my new school. I planned this for my original Mario picture from the start. I actually made the Luigi sketch the day after, but I've had to wait untill now. This is meant for 1024x768 screens. (witch is what I'm using at the moment
)Not much to explain I guess. I thought along the lines of the first one. The Racoon suit for mario since I havent seen many of those, and the Ghost-vacume for Luigi for the same reason. Placed them both on a Super Mario World like background-frame thing. As you can see, I've figured out how to do patterns
In case you are wondering, Mario IS the correct size compared to Luigi. His legs are bent up, he is shorter and is tipped over. I tested it all very carefully
Well there it is. Something for your desktop.
I'll look into trying to scan a few other things later on.

This is amazing. I love the background and everything. Though I think Luigi looks a bit too tall.
I like how superstar tried to give some actual personality to other wise empty charactes. Think about it. The Mario Bros pretty much has no personality. Even the fact that they made Luigi have striped socks, gives him more character than in the past 20 years.

It was a rather tricky situation to deal with Luigi's height. I've rotated, messured and even bendt Mario's legs back to standing position to check if they were wrong, but they're not as far as I can see. I could either cheat with Luigi and scale him down, or leave them like this. I did the latter, but I do admitt, he does look larger. I recon its the impression you get from his bendt knees, that he could strech even further. I guess I could check again later on. Good eye noticing it though.
I always found those socks a great add on. Made me laugh a bit at least

Indeed. I liked Smash Bros's slightly purple pants. Thats because Green and Purple go well together. Anywho, I that you are right about that. It just SEEMS like luigi is taller than he should be here. I dont think that the problem is that he is too tall in comparison to his brother, but too tall in comparison to his own head. This luigi seems to have a bit more of a human anatomy, but the characters tend to have large heads in comparison to their bodies.
Any who, I dont think anything is wrong, its just that luigis new art has him with no neck. The head tapers down to his chest. I like this look. But on your drawing, you have his head lurched forward, and his shoulders high, thus hiding his psudeo-neck. Thus making it appear out of proportion, but I really dont think it is.
Like you've said, you did measure it all up, and everything seems to fit. I would agree. I think the drawing is fine, just the human eye that might be at flaw here. Like those optical illusions that have perfectly straight lines, but they eye makes them look bent. The lines are perfect, but the eye is flawed. See what I'm getting at? Maybe thats the problem.

There are two remarks, however. I think the shadow on Luigi's leg is a bit off, at least I find it odd. And - what have they done to their noses? Did they do a stand in for Rudolph and friends? Haha, I'm sure that's how they are supposed to look

I kind of liked the sock thing. Added something a little extra, (considering that they are pretty plain alltogether.) Strange, I really was pretty pleased with the legshadows. I used reference for this one and this was the way the artist did it. It could just be a mistake in my reference though...
Hmm... Would be interesting to se a rudolf-nose powerup. "The power of the glowy nose!!!" It would bluntly have replaced fireballs

To be honest, I was afraid adding a background would take focus away from the characters in the first place. Well.. It is a *back*-ground, so doing that would make some sense. I guess I could have put them slightly behind the border or something. But I wouldn't want them to appear as giants. I'll save that in case I'll do something with super-mushrooms
