There were some beautiful fly agarics around my neighborhood this year (NZ) ... I could just picture some fairies hiding in my garden amongst them all!

As far as I know, only the Scandinavian and Balkan strains are hallucinogenic.

We went on a fungi walk with a mycologist, how I found my first one the day before this and apparently this is hallucinogenic too.
Just need to dry it in thin slivers and if it doesn`t kill you you get a day-long trip and then just have to contend with acute sickness and squits, supposedly worth it for the high but don`t think I`ll do that - would rather photo them.
Actually went back to take shots of the smaller ones as they should have been full-size three days later and someone had dug them all up, most likely for their effects as you would have really had to go out of your way to find these nowhere near pathways

Or, maybe whoever dug them up had a fly problem?

Most flies have started hibernating/dying off already as autumn weather is now striking us with rain and gales
The nature reserve is quite near a rough housing estate so probably more drug than insecticide - its a shame but hopefully they`ll be more next year

Untrue.
All Amanita Muscaria are hallucinogenic...worldwide.
Did you know that the Russian word for "drunk"..."пьяно" translates more accurately to "bemushroomed"?
Or...at least that's what my magic mushroom guidebook says.
Babelfish says otherwise, but Babelfish is often wrong.

They are hallucinogenic here too - not recommended though. You only actually need a thin slither of it dried but think I`ll give it a miss, high on life already...

You are better off without, in my opinion.
I've have taken some, and other hallucinogens that get you impaired, and in my opinion, it's not worth it.
I'm not saying I wouldn't eat a psilocybin mushroom the odd time.
Old habits die hard...I still enjoy the lsd like high.
Many people enjoy a magic mushroom trip when the autumn leaves are at their peak.
My advice, however, to those who have never taken drugs is DON'T START.
Once that switch is flicked, you never know WHERE you will end up.
As lawyers say "You can't unring a bell".

Looks gorgeous but toxic - dried does give you a trip but could kill in te worst case scenario - the best you could hope for would be a long trip and then acute sickness and squits!
