Muslim Colony is about a Kilometer Long and half a Kilometer wide. This is about the average quality of dwelling people have there.

Muslim Colony was set up nearly 50 years ago as a colony for the working and labouring class. Under the then governments banner of "Roti, Kapra aur Makan" (Food, shelter and clothing). Our then prime minister leader was enamored with first evolution into socialism and wanted to ensure the basic rights of all. Muslim Colony is right next to the elite "diplomatic sector" home to all the embassies and corps diplomatique. Pakistanis are not allowed in and the cost of real estate is higher than central London. Much of the working class invested its hard earned savings to buy a small piece of land to build a home and started erecting what little they could, with the promise that facilities would follow, such as water, drainage, electricity, gas, sewerage, schools, hospitals. Not long after there was a military coup, the prime minister executed and this colony forgotten , intentionally ignored as of it did not exist. It was my first visit here and it was a twilight zone of poverty, and aura of abject hopelessness (like I have never experienced) Dictators have come and gone, governments have come and gone and yet half a century later still no water, sanitation, proper electricity, gas, sewerage drainage or even the most basic of roads. The dwellings ramshackle and makeshift of mud, brick, cement .. just anything that can be used.
