God what kind of world do we live in? There are so many observations you can have about this image. It's obvious this little girl is very sad and she looks cold as well. But where are her parents? I would never want to be a child her age and be in this terrible predicament. What I do not understand is why hasn't someone investigated this and what is going on here for the benefit of the child? Aren't there places in your country that protect their children? I think the reason the people may have gotten angry at you is because you had a camera in your hand and they did not know what your intentions were for example you could had been a reporter and maybe try to expose them in some way. Your lucky that they did not beat you up as you hear these things happening all the time. Powerful image

Yes there are so many unanswered questions and I wish I had noticed it at the time and not later. I might have been able to report to the police immediately

I see what you mean, the look on her face says so much, it is stomach churning to think of why she could be with them, it is just so horrible and sad. We are starting to hear about things like this happening over here too. Young girls being smuggled into the country by the sex industry. I read the other day about a girl who was smuggled in by a gang who wanted to sell her organs. I am just so glad they were caught!

I feel there are so many stories good and bad .. that are seemingly innocuous .. and we are so busy in our daily life to notice them.
Most people would have just strolled by .. paying no attention .. unknowing of what is going on

That is true, but then there are other times when people do notice things, but they are too afraid to get involved in case of possible repercussions if they do

This is deeply disturbing. It moves the horror from faceless 'over there' to 'right here'.
That's the story we still need to tell. The one the world doesn't want to hear, because it is not a fairy-tale ending. It is harsh and ugly, and hurtful. And ignoring it, or glamorizing it is as evil as the original acts.
Our art in general, and dA in particular, is not strong on telling these stories.
Again, please be encouraged. These are deeply meaningful, and important images.

I do know this, this forum is primarily an ART and not a social awareness site.

"Artists" are very happy to disturb the status quo when it has a shock factor. They'll create horrific images of fake pain from within their comfortable worlds, but shrink away from real pain in the real world. That's not art, it's a cop-out. Telling the stories of these people in images that have artistic integrity and value is vitally important. "Protest" images can and should be as good as any other images we make.
But I'm preaching to the converted here, I know!
