SPOOOOOILLEEEEEERS for season 4!!SERIOUSLY, WTF. I am tired of this happening all the time in this show.
Another comic profiling Arthur's obvliousness to Merlin's magic will follow this comic. And yes, I am too lazy to draw it all, hence the screen caps.
I love the series, I really do, but... this time, I just.. I just couldn't believe it. There was ABSOLUTELY NOT EXPLANATION as to how Merlin survived the attack of the Duraka, or however the hell you spell it.
Oh and in the last panel? SO MUCH TENSION. Arthur ended up putting his arm around Merlin's neck to show his affection, so he somewhat appeased the fans XD

Merlin being immortal has never been much of an issue really. It's the fact that Leon seems to be immortal that I can't quite get over. Still, it's true that Arthur and the Knights seem oblivious to it ^_^

My personal theory: Emrys=Immortal and Emrys=Merlin thus Merlin=Immortal.

I like to think that Merlin is immortal or something, because his heart stopped then he woke up in "The Poisoned Chalice." Or that he's so powerful that even the Dorocha can kill him.

I sort of wondered about that myself. Every single other death by Duraka was instantaneous (wasn't it??), yet Merlin somehow survives long enough for the Vilia to heal him.

i think he hypnotises people wiht he goofy grin so they go to ask "does this mean you're imortal" but then he smiles and they ask "would you like a cuppatea?"
also, it would seam they moved him next to a fire right away so its likely the knights bing more brawn than brain followed the logic that because they got him near warmth quickly that saved him, because i guess usually theres no one else around to do that so that would be why no other mortal had survived.
wow that makes no sence but it did in my head.

I don't think putting him next to a heat source would have helped though, really. I feel like the soul is stolen by the Duraka as it passes through the body, so the fire would have only melted the ice off the corpse.
Maybe there is something in that though.

knights are simple though so they would THINK it had made the diference.
merlin just chose to let them run with it lol "yeah yeah it probably was the very weak fire yeah sure um no imortals here no-sir-ree, nuh uh nope it was the 'fire' yup

I mean when you think about it, it makes sense from the viewers prospective (Emrys means Immortal in Old English - and in the original arthurian legends Merlin was immortal) and obviously as the main character he can't die but why does no one question it in the shoooooowwww

But yeah Arthur would have been wise to question it I think.. the fact that he didn't, whereas I think Uther would have, might imply that Arthur already has a soft spot for Magic.

yeah! I had kinda always thought that was Emrys means but it was confirmed in the Merlin Magazine :] so that scene, to me, was kind of a hint towards that.
As for Arthur, I think he's just blind, especially when you consider the events in episode 3 (have you watched that one yet?)

what i thought was awesome is how they could heal Uther from a fatal wound without some sort of life exchange >> +life -life inconsistencies aside i liked the episode though

The show is pretty good, yeah. There are some really cheesey moments, and some really frustrating ones (this one for example) but in general it's very entertaining

I love this show too!!!! I just tend to ignore most of the plotholes.... WARNING!SPOILER! In episode 3 there is something I can't ignore. Why in the hell doesn't Gaius tell Arthur about the magic necklace? He can't hate magic then!!!! Argh! Okay, I'm better now....

I know... and also, if Arthur and Merlin DON'T check the bed and/or the premisis around Uthur then they are COMPLETE IDIOTS who haven't learned anything. How many freakin poultices and random bespelled trinkets have found their way into that room? OVER 9000 MAYBE.
