Stranger Things VS Gravity Falls

*Cop Vs Criminal.

*Both are fighting old men in shows the supernatural who will do anything to protect a group of kids who fight off alien invaders from other dimensions in a town that seems normal but is far from it (The Upside Down monsters in Hawkins, Indiana and Bill Cipher and his Minions in Gravity Falls, Oregon)

*Both lost a family member in their earlier years (Sarah Hopper and Stanford Pines) and due to that the next kids they meet , they protect with their lives. and both losses for each character were big reveals when they happened.

*And both made a sacrifice to save everyone from Alien threats at the end of a season (Stan sacrificing his memories to destroy Bill and Hopper sacrifices himself to be killed by the machine that will close the portal to the upside down) but these sacrifices didn’t matter as both end up regaining themselves (Stan gets his memories back and Hopper is alive instead of dying to the machine)

*Both would fight higher ups and win against all of them (The FBI and Russian Soldiers)

*but at the end of these fights a big twist for each series would happen not long after (Stranger Things revealing Vecna took over Hawkins like he said he would and Stan’s Twin Brother Stanford, Still being Alive and the one who wrote the Journals)

*Both also adopt a kid/kids after losing the one thing that meant everything to them (Stan adopting Dipper and Mabel for the Summer time and Hopper adopting Eleven)

*Both had/has a high position in society (Stan was mayor for a bit but then criminal records got him disqualified and Hopper is chief of Police)

*Both characters in their show’s Penultimate finale (Stranger Things Season 4 & Gravity Falls Season 2 Mid Season Finale) had them be captured by higher authorities villains who were a threat to our main heroes (The Government & Russia Soldiers) with them actually escaping from their grasp after fighting them to get out but are forced to confront the villains again right at the end for one last freedom (The Government finding out where Stan is and the cast having to wipe the Government’s memories & Hopper having to go back to the Russian prison to fight off the Demogorgon and Demodogs in order to escape and get back home)

*Both of their crazy ass supernatural series started their characters and shows off with episodes relating to Zombies (Will Byers being referred to as Zombie Boy after he goes missing in later seasons after the Season 1 Premiere of the Show which causes Hopper to look for him and starts his character arc & Episode 1 of Gravity Falls focusing on Mabel Pines with a new boyfriend who Dipper thinks is a zombie)

*but we find out towards the end of the premieres that the characters have a bigger backstory while not getting all the full details until the second season of their shows (Stan hiding something behind the Vending Machine, which we find out to be him trying to get his brother back from another dimension & Hopper lost his daughter Sara back in the late 60’s to Cancer before moving to Hawkins)

*their whole character arcs started with them trying to bring back someone from an alternate dimension (Stan trying to bring back Ford through a portal that he created which causes Stan to spend 30 years to get him back & Hopper rescuing Will Byers from the Upside Down after he gets captured in the beginning of Episode 1 in Season 1 of the show)

*During a massive point in their character arcs (Hopper getting captured and put into a Russian Prison & Stan when he finally gets his Brother back) we find out about their track backstories in full detail and how their dad was a massive part of it and how they were sent away (Hopper’s Dad being an asshole, and Hopper getting drafted into war forcing him to leave his home and cause him years of trauma, and finding out after he got married and had a daughter who later died due to cancer and causing him to move to Hawkins to start a New Life & Stan being close to his brother but didn’t want him to leave to go to college so he accidentally sabotaged his brother’s project causing his father to kick him out which caused Stan to live on his own at a young age on the streets and in jail & he sees his brother again only to get into a fight with him and lose his brother when he gets sucked into his portal)

*Both also in finales ended up getting into a fight with another character which ultimately caused the delay of the villains defeat causing them to spread more harm to the rest of the cast (Stan getting mad at Ford and breaking the Zodiac to defeat Bill before eventually defeating him by erasing his mind & Hopper having to fight off Grigori which causes the delay of closing the portal, which leads to Billy’s Death)

*Which at the end of this ultimately causes them their “Sacrifices” (Stan losing all his memories & Hopper “Dying”) but ultimately coming back & eventually get their happy ending at the end of the season (Hopper being revealed to survive the machine explosion and gets to go back to Hawkins and see Eleven again and reunite with the main cast & Mabel managing to bring back all of Stan’s memories and going on new adventures with Ford on their Stan O’ War 2)

*Both also during their leave of absence (Stan going on new adventures with Ford & Hopper getting captured by Russians) have a new character take over their previous titles (Soos taking over the Mystery Shack as the Mystery Man previously held by Stan & 1 of Hopper’s Deputies takes over as chief while Hopper is presumed Dead after the events of Season 3)

*Both series also have a key “object?” That helps them discover and learn about the supernatural in their shows (Gravity Falls having the Journals to explain the supernatural creatures within the town & The Stranger Things Cast using D&D aspects to understand the monsters of the Upside Down)

*And Both close to the end of their season have to take down one of the main villains 1 On 1 (Hopper fighting the Demogorgon in Russia with Conan’s Sword & Stan fighting Bill Cipher in his Mind and erasing him from Existence) both manage to succeed in their goals but ultimately theories after these seasons ended say that it isn’t over (Vecna and the Upside Down coming back with an Army for Season 5 of Stranger Things & Bill Cipher still being alive since Stan got his memories back)
