Description This species is infrequently encountered in the nature reserves in Singapore, usually flying rapidly in the vicinity of flowering trees and shrubs. The upperside of the male is a lustrous purple with a blakc border on the forewing and an orange-red distal border on the hindwing. The female is bluish purple with a wider forewing border. The buff-brown underside has a narry reddish brown post-discal line on each wing, and the tornal area of the hindwing is red with black spots and metallic blue/green zigzagged lines.

The males possess two pairs of tails at veins 2 and 3, whilst females feature 3 pairs of tails with the additional pair at vein 4.
