So someone requested on the GDC forum that I make a tutorial on how to make a fire mane and tail. WELL, here's the mane part. I decided against using my balrog horse just because I might have accidentally forgotten something.

This was done in Photoshop CS3. I'm pretty certain that it will work for versions earlier than CS, but then again I only use CS3 so I wouldn't know. I think this is more about technique than actual mechanics, so one could hypothetically do this in another program besides Photoshop, but I wouldn't know how off-hand.

I hope it's fairly clear and helpful. It would be nice, if this tutorial is helpful, to cite it as a reference if you use it to make something. I would also love to see your work, but these things are just wishes, not actual requirements.

Anywho, enjoy. I'll probably be making the tail part in time.
