Fantastic shot.........no idea what this one is though Do you stack at all?? There is more DoF than I would expect from 7.1 though perhaps with 100mm your actually not all that close?? Have you used lesser cameras than the 5D?? Just wondering how much difference it makes in shot quality (image only, obvious composition and lighting is down to you) having such a high end camera makes??

well, that is a single shot. advantage of the big sensor is, you
can use a crop and it are still quite big datas. the colors
are quite rich also. i had a sony r1 before, a real fantastic camera.
but there is no way to make a real macro with it.
during my life in analog times i had maybe more the ten
different cameras, but digital changed the game

I can't imagine trying to do macro in analog, I have a fair selection of cameras but they are reserved for street stuff where I know most shot are going to look okay. The sheer number of duds that come from macro work whether it's a slight miss in focus or composition (when working in mm it's easier to miss I think)would just make me bankrupt if I tried to do it with film

Hopefully one day I'll be able to get myself the 5D, certainly is the camera I'd love to own and slightly more achievable than what hassleblad are doing with digi stuff It's nice too to see a talented photographer mention cropping as a useful tool, alot of folk I speak to seem to feel it's something of a cop out but I always feel if it allows you to produce the shot you really want it is a good thing.

Thanks for taking the time to reply in depth too

well, i had a extension bellows in analog times,
when i was 18 years old, but i almost never used it
because film and paper was to expensive for
a regular use. since digital has come, photography
is grown to a higher level. you are able to see the result
directly, you delete and try another one without
any additional cost. photoshop is the best digital
lab you can have. things are clear in a short time.
the learn effect is immense.
and the 5d, well it is a almost perfect tool. i couldn`t be happier,
but to be true, the sony r1 was not worse, just different.
i sold mine for around 300 euro and i almost regret it.
the zeiss-lense of it was just unbelievable perfect.
if i want to buy one zoom like that i had to by an l-lense
from canon, which costs you much more than the whole camera and
isn`t the same quality either.
just the speed and the display are not up to date anymore.
so let us go ahead and enjoy it
