First of all, since you didn't capture the drawing using a scanner or camera with proper lighting, it's hard to really judge this work. Many colors and lots of details might be missing. I think though, it's still an interesting illustration of a cat on christmas tree. You seem to do the coloring seriously on the cat and tree (I can see the pine strands), you have no sense of doubt when you drew this, which is very good.
Some suggestions for improvement though:
. I think the cat is far too large for a regular christmas tree, so it's like a giant cat. You might want to shrink the cat by half of this size.
. the christmas ornaments seem too small and unevenly spread (only on the bottom). If you could put more on the middle or top of the tree, the drawing would make more sense.
Overall it's a cute illustration, you got the general vision, only need to pay more attention on size-proportion and taking the picture under better lighting, under the sun/natural light is the best.

Hello! I'm fromΒ ProjectComment , I hope you don't mind if I give you some advise on some things.
For start, I like the detail on both the cat, Christmas tree and some treats too. The colors don't clash that much so it is not overwhelming, mostly cause of the scanner but that's ok.
The anatomy is actually really good with the face and legs, though I have to say something about the tail. It looks kinda odd at the base going from thin to too puffy, what I could recommend is looking at some cats on google and get some use them as a reference to make it more realistic. But that's just a suggestion.Β
Another thing is that I would say add some shading or a source of light, like from the star or on the ceiling? It would make the cat and some of the balls on the tree stand out a little bit.
However, I love the different colored strokes on both the tree and the cat, You can see it in the picture.
That's all I can say for this one, I really like this one. So cute.Β I hope to see you soon Β

Hi fromΒ ProjectComment! I'm commenting as part of theΒ Everything Must GoΒ contest .
Such a lovely cat, and I would be scared if my cat did this to our tree xD! I'm hoping that the cat isn't actually this large in proportion to a regularly-sized Xmas tree...
From what I can see of the details, I think that you did a great job with the coloring of this piece. The length and direction of the strokes you used for the tree and cat's fur make both look natural and realistic. I like how you used soft blending on the ornaments and along the edges of the thought bubble to convey their texture. In contrast, the star on the top of the tree looks a bit flat, and I'd suggest adding a glowing effect around the edges if you haven't already (or, if it's not lit, some orange or dark yellow shadow).Β
It's difficult to make out some of the details of your piece, so my suggestion would be to take a photo of this piece under natural light (it looks like this was taken under artificial light), and laying the paper flat against a surface so that the entire piece is level . If you have a floor-to-ceiling window in your house, I highly recommend taking your photos there.
Second, I suggest adding more shading to both the cat and the tree. While you have some shading now, some areas, like the cat's left hind leg and the underside of the tail look under-shaded, and thus on the flat side. The same goes for the underside of the tree, and the areas where the cat meets the tree, as I'd expect those areas to be dipped in due to the cat's weight.
Hope this helps, and keep up the excellent work!Β

Hey there! I'm coming from ProjectComment and participating in Critmas so hopefully I'll be able to provide you with some helpful feedback. As a cat lover, I absolutely love this picture. The anatomy of the cat is great and its expression is so content and brings a smile to my face. What I'd improve upon is adding some shadows and shading to the picture. They give your picture more depth and an added sense of realism. I'd also scan your photos if possible because the quality comes out better or use a different camera. The colors are a bit muted as a result so it does make it hard to tell whether or not there is shading and other details done in it. Overall, this is really well done and very festive. Keep up the great work!

Hmm I was working on it on and off for one day did not clock the time exact, maybe an hour two hours and a half IDK I'm pretty slow.
I'd be happy to what are you trying to improve on? I've just self taught myself to this point but still have a long ways to go till I feel happy with my skill set.

Well I just want to know how to get shading coloring that good?
what pecils did you use and what pens?

With coloring I mix different colors to create texture and tone. Try drawing as lightly as possible at first but not too light or it looks overly faded. I like to color in circles sometimes just spinning the tip to the pencils around XD Also to mind using the flat points of the led for lighter coloring and the tip for lining.
For shading I pick a darker shade of the color the the object, if it's a lime green leaf then get a slightly darker tone of green and color the edges.
I'm broke so I use whatever I can get my hands on.
