It's fun to see these characters we don't see very often.
(Well, we have seen Momoko : )
I see Mai's hair-wings must be a family thing.
I re-read book 1 act 18, and book 2 act 1.Β
Looks like the only character here who hasn'tΒ
made an appearance yet is Kyo's dad and Luka's Mom.
This is a trivial question, but is Arashi a boy or a girl?

The physique of an adult is different, especially on men ^^
The daddy's pic was originally bigger, so if I had shrunk it to match the other one it'd look plain weird. I randomly drew these and put them on one sheet, this is not meant to be size correct, only to provide a look on the characters
Hmm wait what...? Shoujo means a girl, bishoujo a pretty girl, without cathegorising I merely meant she's a beauty haha...
Akiko is the girl in robes, Arashi was the name of the dog and yes he's male lol...
Well that's true
I think many moms are like that, at least to my experiences...
And here we open the debate of how much parents actually about what their kids do when they leave the house... I think I've pointed it out before, but because this is a semi-realistic story, and above all a story, not everything should be taken literally or contrast it to real life issues A lot happens that doesn't have a logic explanation and open conclusions are a safe way to get away with the guestions

Thanks. I feel less dumb now
Ah, Sailor Moon. Long time ago for the most people. For me on the opposite it's quit new. I only started watching it two mounts ago. I haven't finished it yet, since Attack on Titan was released then and I was addicted to that anime. Gonna continue it sometimes, though^^
Really? My mom is always in the house (or at least around the house). She can't work in this country, you see. But maybe that good, since me and my sisters and brother make quite a mess in the house^^'

still 3 season? I don't really know in which season I am... I watch it on this site called "goodanime" but they don't name the season there... hmmm
I am doing that now. Actually, she just called me to clean the floors^^' It's getting pretty annoying sometimes since she always ask me to do that, but hey, it takes 5-10 minutes so I don't complain (besides I don't make such a mess anymore^^' Now it's just my brothers and eldest sister)

Haha yeah, I was supposed to have family introduction ages ago but well yeah, never got it up...
Yes it's fun!
But of course! Little doggy is part of the family!
Haha hmmm, maybe a bit he does...
Mystery daddy is not in the picture, at leats for now
Luka got the surname from his mother (as did Ryu), Angelena is the professor's daughter
Lol well yes, I haven't come up with every details concerning the families, mostly because they're not so relevant but provide nice background story for each character. There are also a lot "not paying attention to this/that in order to keep the story fluid and stick to the essential fight-save-the-world-situation" parts that aren't solved in anyway. Many manga/anime also have these "orphan" characters whose families are never brough up in anyway, so the viewers don't know if they have one or not. Orphans in anime in general are very popular too, also as the provider of emoness haha, but I've always prefered not to leave any orphans, at least one parent, not that orphans are bad but it has gotten a bit overused in my opinnion . I think anime makers are just lazy to make up more family backgrounds, especially on shonen/action/adventure types... But then again, what I've seen, people seem to find orphans more interesting and intriguing too...
I'm not currently sure how deeply I need to poke this subject, it's not very essential to the plot -more like little filling to individual characters.
Other thing is also that I'll reveal things little by little, so it is very likely I'll aventually tell readers more about the characters and their history, especially those who stick around longer
Book 1 had no mention of Luka's mother, but Book 2 will have, same goes for Momoko
So maybe we'll see more of these "uninvented" stuff too lol..

Inesidora In reply to chealsea2307 [2014-01-03 22:52:25 +0000 UTC]
True true, though some level of unknowness is also fun
But families are also fun to invent!
That is possible
But you know what they say, inherit the looks or the will from one parent I too come to my father by the looks, but at leats people say my nature is more like mom's, though I kinda disagree on that in few things....
Haha yes Angelena is a guite a thing to handle, I'm surprised you got such a strong idea of her by one picture, it's not too far from the truth We'll see more of her near the end of volume 2 ^^ True it's kinda the thing they have in common. But at least what we know of Ryu, he had a fun father he loved but then he didn't want to be with his family anymore and just left, leaving Ryu to dislike him, so Ryu got dissapointed in his father in the end. And Ryu spend the early childhood with him. Luka has always had grandfather with him, but he's not the same as the real father. However at this point it's still good to mention that ever since the begining I never planned Luka to be "dadless" and he does know who the person is and has met him, he just never were part of their lives. I think I'll take my time to mold this up in my mind, lets see if I ever reach a good conlusion... xD
That's true, and to be honest I've often too fancied such characters and their troubles I guess the fact that it's guite unrealistic in nowday's society that it's so appealing too -somehow situations that are rare or even supernatural are the things people find most appealing -lol, like love relationships with vampires... Not to mention the sadness the casualties cause, and at least in ladyfolk this often brings forth sympathy and feelings of comfort Who wouldn't like a little emo boy...?
That's a good point, and I've though of it too -but I myself at times find it annoying if I watch/read anime/manga and some characters have a lot of focus on them, telling almost everything possible from their family and past, and some are left completely out (due being orphan or never mentioned about a family) so maybe I somehow have an urge to make a difference there Though I know I'm not even up to build up such a detailed story for every character, like villains or even the new main Vester cast because they'll aventually fall behind. That's why I focus more on the group that follows through the books, the originals And sometimes it's better to leave something open, just because it'd only bring forth more guestions if something was brought up ^^ I sure hope fans can draw their own preferred conclusions too, it's more fun that way too

Maybe it's the aura she gives off? Angelena just has something that distinguishes her from the other mothers When I see her, I see a confident woman who stands her ground firmly, somewhat demanding and high-standard. I can still feel certain level of kindness in her but not as sweet and gentle as the other mothers. How to say it? She has the looks of a lady of aristocratic bloodline, so you kinda have an impression Not to mention she has a pair of sharp eyes also
Funny though, I did have a similar vision of Luka's family and his background (results of silly drafting whenever I'm bored), but it was on the reverse I envisioned that he's living with a father rather than a mother, making his family all men Oh well, at this rate, I have to draft his story again then
But wait, if Ryu lived with his parents before as a family, why does he take his mother's last name? So Asai and Rie never actually married?
It's ok, if you're not up to it, you don't have to do it rightaway As I said, leave something for fans to imagine too

Well I'm glad if it reached you! Not many are that observant before actually seeing the character in action, good for you! I'm impressed! (and happy I got it guite right then lol...)
Actually your vision wasn't off that much. I'll tell more about Angelena in some unknown far away future, but she spends a lot of time abroad and long times too (the reason she was absent in Book 1 too), so Luka is left with his gradfather, kinda leaving it all men Luka has learnt to look after himself so he doesn't necessary need his mother around, but we can all speculate what the absence of a mother figure can do to a young man Dispite this they have strong bonds and no one feels "unloved". Angelena is a free soul who comes and goes but also loves her family.
Yes, they never married, and this issue kinda led it to the fact Ryu got his mother's name. The signs of not being able to commit to a family were already there on the time Ryu was born and aventually Tatsuo left completely, even though he tried at first. I actually got this idea from one of my real life friend's life, but I'm not going to start detailing the hardships of their unsuccesful family life any further. I'll leave the rest to your imagination
Haha OK, I'll see what I'll do...
