Description
For my Illustration classes. We have to illustrate some Andersen's tales and I chose The Little Mermaid.This is the scene when she holds the statue in her garden.
And yes, it is a breast, and no, I'm not going to censor it.
Materials used: Graphite pencils, Winsor & Newton watercolours, coloured pencils, waterbrush, white gouache and gel pen.

This is really pretty, it has a lot of potential if you could strengthen the basics a little. For example, the composition is pretty alright already but you could push it using the rule of thirds. The anatomy as well is pretty good but to make it more dynamic you should probably try studying human figures. Also in your place I would consider pushing the darks a little for a greater value range. I can see you gave form very well in some areas, but some other areas such as the torso of the girl are lacking and so they look flat. The background is soft and adorable, as well as the frame, so overall you did very well! Good luck ^.^

To start with, I love the framing and ocean background, they are both beautiful and colourful, and all the little fish and sea creatures swimming about are very cute. The little mermaid's hair is one of my favorite parts of this, it flows well and is shaded and highlighted greatly, also I think its really cool how you have made the tail fins transparent (I wouldn't have thought of that). The only think I think could be adjusted would have to be her nose, it is a little wide for my liking, but I think that is your art style, so this isn't a problem. The thing I like most about this though is the stunning composition and the expressions used, the longing in her face and the overall layout is really well put together.
All in all, excellent work!

This is so gorgeous! I love the detail in the border and the background fishes. The mermaid's hair really seems to flow with the water.
