I just hope the dumb love drama stops. If Star and Marco had gotten together earlier, we could've had more time to focus on other important things. Hopefully "Curse of the Blood Moon" does this. It's episode 8 out of 21.

As a Starco fan they tease Starco way too much that it's distracting. If the "Curse of The Blood Moon" episode finally gets them together then the last 13 episodes can finally focus on something different.

At the same time, if they don't end up together then I'll feel pretty ticked. Their relationship is the most developed and they've been hinting at it for so long. If all my investment was for nothing then half of the show wasted my time.

Exactly. I actually do like both Tom and Jackie. If it had more development I would like Jarco and TomStar a lot more. But because they don't get much screen time, they feel more like plot devices. You know what I mean? Lava Lake Beach was the "Just Friends" episode but instead reversed. It's Marco depressed instead. They both go through the same things so that in the end their bond is stronger. It makes sense. Idk... what do you think? I'm enjoying this civilized discussion =]

Exactly! Exactly! Exactly! I personally also think Starco has better chemistry than them. Star and Marco both can’t STAND being away from each other as seen in ‘return to mewni’ and ‘sophomore slump’. Star is longing over Marco and Marco is extremely depressed, and is ‘sophomore slump’ Marco wants to go to Mewni to be with star. They both develope eachother too, Star helped Marco get out of his shell, and Marco helps her think more clearly and supports her in tuff situations.
Yes, while Tomstar and Jarco do have chemistry, I think Jarco was fading into being a one-sided relationship. Jackie helped Marco break out of his shell as well and also encouraged him a ton, but Marco didn’t really provide anything for Jackie. I also think Tom and Star both have a lot more person growth to do before they could have a stable romantic relationship. Yes they have come a long way but I think that they both still need some work.
I think Tom also knows that deep down, Star does love Marco and it hurts him. It’s always unhealthy to have ghosting in a relationship, and while this isn’t straight up ghosting it’s a sticky situation.

Oh man. I know you seem busy, but you are a joy to talk to <3. This is a fun discussion. Anyways, that's exactly how I feel. Chemistry is SUPER important. That's how me and my girlfriend got together 7 years
ago. We have similar chemistry to Starco. We were best friends for a while before becoming a thing. You only see glimpses of Jarco and Tomstar chemistry. There are some cute moments like the beginning of
"Monster Bash" and "Lava Lake Beach" for Tomstar, and "Starcrushed"/"Bon Bon" for Jarco. They show what they can be if developed more but you just don't see enough to 100% buy their romance. I honestly
wished I could understand why Star liked Tom before the first break up. Maybe it's one of those "he's a bad boy and I find him hot" type of things, but then she found out about his anger issues thus getting fed
up after awhile? I wish we saw a flashback on how they got together and broke up in the first place. There are a good amount of filler episodes that could've been developing Jarco and Tomstar more, but we don't see it. Didn't you find it super jarring that after "Demoncism" Marco returns in "Lint Catcher" only to be friend-zoned and told by Star that Tomstar is back? I was like "What?!" Like... can we SEE how that
happened? I don't think seeing them hold hands at the end of "Demoncism" was enough. They could've showed their first date back together to develop the return of Tomstar instead of a dumb Pony Head focused episode or other filler eps. It's as if she's using Tom as a way to get over her crush at the idea that Marco will never feel the same. She only just found out he had REAL feelings for her at the end of "Booth Buddies".

Exactly, you only get to see about 1-2 minute of their chemistry for them. Though I guess the reason Starco has so much is because they’re literally the main two characters.
In the book of spells (like the actual physical copy of it, not the one in the show) it gives a glimpse of Tom and Star’s relationship pre-breakup In star’s chapter and it was pretty much what you described. they broke up after getting into a bad fight and Tom’s anger issues getting out of control. Something like that, I don’t exactly remember.
I know right! I GUESS they kinda implied it by with the whole holding hands thing, but like some actual clearer confirmation would’ve been nice. Idk.
IKR! Maybe instead of an episode about ponyhead’s fucking horn we could get an episode about Tom or something.I just hope in season 3 we get an episode clearing up everything. And I would like an episode specifically dedicated to Tom and star breaking up (like sophomore slump) and I want TOM to break up with star, him confronting her about the kiss and saying how he understands that her and Marco have feelings for eachother.

We for sure need an episode like that. When Marco told him about the kiss, Tom didn't get pissed or anything. It's like he expected it. He even brought Marco's soulless body back to Star AND hugged both of them at the end of "Conquer". I think Tom breaking up with her would be the better choice to be honest. He needs to bring up the kiss and how he feels that she's still closer to Marco then him. Tom has made a good amount of progress and I don't think it would be right for him to get his heart broken again. It's not like I want him to disappear in the name of Starco. Of course, I like seeing the two main characters interact the most, but I like the other characters too. I don't want that for any of the good characters. It sucks that Jackie got that treatment because she's so chill and cool. We haven't seen her since "Sophomore Slump" which once again makes her feel like a plot device. Tom's getting that treatment too. I think the short 11 mins per episode hurts the show sometimes because they have to cram a lot of information into one ep. There are some 30 min eps but overall I don't think the show can afford to waste time on filler with such a short time length. There are still so many questions that haven't been answered. I can name all the filler eps in Season 3 that could've been replaced with episodes that actually fill in gaps and answer questions.

All of these eps could've been removed and the story wouldn't be effected in any significant way. They could've used these 4 episodes to EASILY explain or focus on more important things. Season 4 definitely can't afford filler episodes. There's a lot to cover. I don't think we should have to wait 8 episodes (Curse of The Blood Moon) to get a conclusion on Starco. It should've been 4 or 5 episodes in since I know they need to focus on the kingdom and Eclipsa at the beginning. I hope Daron knows what she's doing because I still like the show despite its flaws.

Honestly I love Tom and his character development, if this happened sometime back in season one Tom would totally freak out. I think he knows that Star and Marco are closer than him and Star and has just come to accept it, so I think he’s probably gonna be the one to confront Star.
Perhaps this will happen in “lake house fever” Or “down by the river”, the words “lake” and “river” probably reference lava lake beach, and I think that would probably be an ideal location for a Tomstar moment such as a breakup.
Jackie was literally just a plot device, And honestly it’s kinda sad. They couldn’ve taken so much time to flesh out her character and build her friendships with the rest of the cast, but she was kinda just there so Jarco could happen. But at the same time I guess since the setting changed from Earth to Mewni that might also be a reason? Idk. Hopefully we see her in season 4 again.
I agree with you so much with this. Steven Universe also has a giant problem similar to this and it gets annoying. they could’ve spent those episodes on something useful, I mean I get that you need a break from the plot but you can also spend those episodes building the characters and introducing more lore etc...

I'm glad I started watching you ^^. Your posts are very thorough and I couldn't agree with them more. Way better than 80% of this fanbase. But yeah, 5 more days and we'll find out. How the first episode goes will set the tone. All the things you mentioned NEED to happen. The plot is the most interesting thing about Star. In those filler episodes I mentioned in my last reply, I sort of zone out. I feel like I'm definitely not going to like the "The Pony Head Show!" episode in Season 4 though >.>

This conversation honestly made me feel better about season 4. I'm getting good vibes from the promos. Let's just hope the ending is satisfying, because let me tell you... as a writer myself, writing a satisfying ending is usually the hardest part of a story.

Well, Season 4 started with The two first episodes out and I have to say I really enjoyed them. I’m glad they’re focusing on the plot at hand. So much stuff to discussssssss

For sure. I'm glad they are focusing on that too. Honestly, Star's too busy to focus on relationships right now. I don't think she's even had enough time to process her kiss with Marco. Remember, the Ponyhead incident happened afterwards and after that Meteora showed up. And EVEN after that she still had to focus on finding her mom and figuring out what to do with the kingdom, and Globgore, etc. She hasn't really had time to just relax for a moment and assess her personal life.
Did you see how quickly she hung up on Tom at the beginning of "Butterfly Follies" and her sad expression afterwards? I don't think that was because of her mother. I think she still feels conflicted about the Booth Buddies kiss since I'm sure it's on the back of her mind and seeing Tom reminds her of it. Ever since that episode her exchanges with Tom have been really brief and she has a hard time looking him in the eye for too long. In "Divide" she also had a hard time looking into Marco's eyes and confident smile for too long when giving him his orders. She even blushed both after that moment and after the hug later, which shows that her stronger Season 2 feelings for him have been slowly resurfacing since that kiss.
I think Marco can tell how she's been feeling too so he's been trying to give her some space. Even when she was crying about her mom, he didn't hug her. At most, he puts a hand on her shoulder in both eps. He's really respectful of her space. He only hugged her in "Divide" because she asked for it. And in "Conquer" SHE hugged HIM.
What sort of caught me off guard was when Marco covered her mouth to prevent their cover from being blown in "Escape From the Pie Folk" and she got flustered, saying "Marco get your hands off me!" She's rightfully been on edge lately. I hope people don't see it as her being a jerk. See has A LOT on her mind. It's actually pretty impressive that she's not in an even worse mental state given what's happened the past few days.
