The Wendigo (also known as Windigo, Weendigo, Windago, Waindigo, Windiga, Witiko, Wihtikow, and numerous other variants) is a mythical creature appearing in the mythology of the Algonquian people. It is a malevolent cannibalistic spirit into which humans could transform, or which could possess humans. Those who indulged in cannibalism were at particular risk, and the legend appears to have reinforced this practice as a taboo.I just began watching Supernatural, and in one of the first episodes this creature comes up. I was fascinated by it so I quickly drew a sketch of how I imagine it.
The image might be a bit too dark for certain monitors, apologies for that. Mine is really bright, so I don't know whether it's visible enough

i think supernatural did a good job of interpreting this legend, not quite how i imagined it to /look/, but almost everything else was spot on.

I wrote a short story called "I am the Wendigo" that I sold to a webzine in 2006-2007 and I will self-publish soon. Your wendigo is very similar in appearance to how I envisioned mine.
(My wendigo's face isn't skull-like and he doesn't wear pants, but you've got the build and claws down.)

I loved the wendigo in Supernatural. It's one of those occasions where they actually researched the legend (unlike Charmed, but that's Charmed for you). I love that your depiction has such long bloody claws.

Wonderful! I have a hard time imagining Wendigos as beastly creatures, such as strange mixes between deer and wolves. Humans have always scared me more than animals and the Supernatural Wendigo gave me the creeps for weeks.

Wenn du etwas horroristisches magst, und moderne mythologische Kreaturen dich interessieren, dann ja, es ist eine gute Serie. Es gibt glaub ich um die 7 Staffeln, alle mit 22 Episoden. Ich bin noch immer bei der ersten, also kann ich nicht so viel erzählen. Es gibt 2 Brüder, dessen Mutter ungewöhnlich gestorben ist, und sie wollen rausfinden, was es war, und stolpern auf andere ungewöhnliche Fälle mit Monstern und Geistern und sowas. Ich kann nur sagen, es wird immer interessanter

Verstehe. Eine grobe Zusammenfassung kannte ich schon - was mich am meisten interessiert hat war, dass die Geister/Dämonen/etc. wohl richtige Persönlichkeiten haben und nicht einfach nur Monster sind, die von den Hauptcharaktern besiegt werden.
Übrigens ist "horroristisch" ein sehr interessantes Wort, das kannte ich bisher noch nicht
