Bio: Helmer Douglas is a boy of British and Swedish descent living in Westchester. He is misanthropic and cynical, with a bleak outlook on humanity as a whole. He is ashamed of his family. His father, Gordon, is an excruciating WASP and is far too boring and business-like for Helmer to ever contemplate forming a social bond with. His mother, Freja, is a starlet, hardly ever around – and not someone Helmer would consider the commitment type. Living with them is Freja’s older brother, Magnus, who has tendencies to say what’s on his mind – usually something crass or inappropriate. Unlike his parents, Helmer considers his uncle a very close friend and a downright laugh riot. Gordon and Freja constantly think Magnus is an overgrown child.
His resentment towards his parents and his inability to reciprocate with them caused Helmer to reject his father’s ideas of him becoming a Harvard or Ivy League graduate and his mother viewing him sometimes as a trophy. He rejected the name they gave him, preferring to call himself Hammerheart. He adopted his uncle’s metal persona. His attitude towards the real world hardened when he discovered extreme metal and became addicted to it, which, in turn, strengthened his mental level.
He adopted his love for old-style wrestling (ECW on TNN) from his uncle. Given his size, he is able to see himself as one of the larger-size, powerhouse wrestlers in a few years. He works out often in order to build himself to that level. His love for wrestling inspired Sabrina’s, one of his greatest friends. He was repaid for that inspiration by being acquainted with Happy Tree Friends, a show that, upon first glance, he never would have touched but came to love it immediately.
He owns one pet: Roger, a Dalmatian. Judging its name and breed, he considers it his father’s dog moreso his own and will only spend time with Roger only if it comes looking for him.
His appearance reflects his intense metal nature and his rebellious attitude towards his parents. He wears a dense leather jacket slightly too big for him over a grey hoodie over a black wool skiing hat with white skulls, black jeans with one knee worn away and a safety pin stuck through near the hole and black leather boots. He wears an eyebrow ring (something his parents react too harshly to, which makes him happier) and keeps hidden a small fruit knife. His uncle, upon discovering it, knew why Helmer would carry it and advised him not to take everything around him “that way” and it was better that he should find it rather his parents. His blue eyes create a sanpaku form, signaling a spiritual imbalance, reflecting in his beliefs. As an agnostic atheist, he does not believe in organized and man-made religion. He feels that whatever gods are out there are not for humans to know, and, quite frankly, he does not care about them at all.
Helmer is painfully aware of his other friend, Teruko. He comforted her from what he saw as an epileptic seizure, however, he had no comprehension that it would cause her to develop a crush on him! He does not, as yet, reciprocate Teruko’s feelings, seeing love and affection as a waste of time. However, Teruko means as much to him as Sabrina, even if he often finds her exasperating, so he does not actually dissuade her advances. Magnus, however, tries to goad him into accepting Teruko’s offers. According to him, he feels Teruko seems to be completely loyal to Helmer and is, quite frankly, a very cute girl. He keeps trying to tell Helmer that he’s got it made with her.
When it comes to discussions, Helmer usually remarks about the boring and mundane and how irritating it is to see people act like machines. He also remarks often on the great difference between him and his parents as well as everyone around him.
