This pairing is the best thing ever! Especially because they might as well be co-workers at Black Mesa. 

Alphys, textbook Melancholy, diligent but neurotic. Sans, textbook Phlegmatic, brilliant but lazy. I like the idea of Alphys encouraging Sans to be more diligent while Sans encourages Alphys to relax more.
