marte is genderless? or does 'it' refer to the shot?

i really like how she hides her mouth combined with the expression in her eyes.
i also like her springy hair and the detail there.

what i don't like, is the orange flare on her scarf. it's too dominant, too orange and the tiny spot lights on the edge, they are the brightest spots in the picture, after the shoulder, and ruin your composition. they would have been nice if blurred, dimmed and on the opposite side for balance, but here i can see no good in them, sorry.

the left eye might have had a little more light, or maybe not if you were to (re)move the spotlights and i think i would have covered the shoulder with the scarf as well. i love the structure and color of the shawl but the gown doesn't add anything, to my opinion.

if you feel i'm being (too) negative, just let me know and i'll stop my critique.

Wow, that was a mouthful. To my defense, it is my first time doing studio portraits
The green/orange flare was sort of an attempt of that thypical fashion flare, but I suppose the overal picture is to dark for it to have that effect. I think I will take this in to "post" again and dodge up some of that face. I agree on the gown..
I think I grow by getting critique, so I guess I will have to say thanks

sorry for making you say thanks
but you must have noticed that you've had only one favorite on this one.

i agree that it's very dark overall, but also to your defence:
i really like the subtle shift in shade in the left half (background).
i'd try and keep that if you're going to do a remake.

what do you think of the spotlights yourself now? do you get what i'm trying to say there?
