This was like one of the only times I used openCanvas and something good came out of it. I actually find the new Spyro design cute and drew this based on it.Related content

Personally, I hate the design of Spyro in Skylanders. He looks like a newt than he does a dragon.

Haha, a lot of people understandably don't like the design, and I can see why. But to me he kind strikes me as cute in a bulldog-sort-of way.

Eh, Spyro's design was always pretty disproportionate. I remember reading a review for the first game (1998) comparing his look to a cross between a donkey and a puppy.

It's not really the disproportions that bug me.
It's just that he doesn't come off looking like a dragon anymore.
It just seems like a real step backwards.

And what does a dragon look like? Keep in mind, dragons ARE fictional creatures, and different cultures have different depictions. Norse dragons (wyrms) were more wolflike than reptilian. Whether Spyro looks like a puppy, an alligator, or a newt, he still breathes fire, and he still hoards treasure. That sounds pretty dragon-like to me.

Although I still prefer his original design.
He looked the best in "A Hero's Tail" I think.
