Iconic red-&-blue-clad alien heroes who were sent to Earth after the fall of their home planets, where they would make it their mission to protect the innocent and serve as a symbol of hope and heroism. Both are powerful enough to contend with gods, yet they choose to use their power to set an example of the goodness of humanity, preferring not to kill their opponents unless they absolutely have to. Both have iconic, yet intentionally unremarkable disguises that they can use to blend in with the rest of Earth's population. Both have an archnemesis who has a similar goal to them, yet they seek to achieve said goals in destructive manners, putting them at odds constantly. Both receive their powers from a shining source of light, which they can harness for an extremely powerful energy blast that they use as a last resort. Both are leaders of a legendary group of heroes who help them protect humanity, and they've occasionally passed on their mantles to a new generation to uphold the peace for them, which sometimes happens because of the many times they've died.

If any matchup's gonna have the two characters fully respect each other the whole way through, this would be the perfect one to do that dynamic with.
