Description Yay! Something made for Animazement that will actually go there to be sold!
So I tried to make a third narwhal... and for some reason, I couldn't draw his horn the right way. I mean, it's like... a triangle. Go figure. So I just gave it an anglerfish doohickey, and ta-da! Anglerfish.

This was also gonna look so much cooler.
But.
I used an old pen to do the lines, and it wasn't waterproof. o_o
So it bled like a hemophiliac emo kid.
Needless to say, I couldn't do the normal washes, so I had to stop after only a couple layers. Sad panda. :c

But yes. Gonna try to make one more before AZ happens.
Gotta get new pens first. P:

I love the style, I think maybe a bit of the ink bleeding added to the effect? Looks cool, great job!

Does the bleeding ink really add to it? I'm a tiny bit OCD, so maybe I'm the only person who has a problem with it. :\
I just like clean lines and sloppy paint, y'know?

I think so.. But I understand what you mean about the OCD thing, whew, I hear you. But yes, I think it works in favour, though I would also have liked to see it with the multiple layers of colour that you spoke of ;D

aw man, i wanted this guy at AZ too... i missed the actual bidding on him, and so someone else got him. so completely adorable in a grumpy sort of way...

and the colours IRL were very subtle and nice- it's a little washed out here, but he still looks great.

Thanks so much for buying my narwhal! I really appreciate the interest and all. It's so exciting seeing this stuff get bid on, especially in a room full of fanart that more people would relate to.
I'm a little saddened that both the ones I had up for sale this year didn't go to the same person, but that happens I guess. P:
They both are probably loved, so I am content. :3

Thanks for the feedback, too! I tried to lower the contrast with each consecutive scan of this guy, but nothing was really working to bring out the subtleties.


PS: I actually didn't have enough time to scan the one you bought! If you feel comfortable taking him out of his frame and untaping him from the matboard, then yes, I would love a scan!
If you don't feel like it, that's ok too. I made an archival print before I brought it up there, although the colors in that one are pretty washed out. Predictable, since I got it done at Office Max. Go figure. P:

I wish the subtle color splashes showed up when I scanned it- in actuality the entire anglerfish is a neutral red and there are rays of white on the left. Can't always win, though. :\

Also, thanks! I really wish my scanner hadn't gotten rid of all the subtle colors. There are rays of white coming from his antenna and his body is actually completely shaded... >.>;
