Description
This logo was difficult in its simplicity. The challenge was to create a distinct logo with only a single character.

In contemplating this project I knew I wanted to use a character with more individual meaning than a random letter. While some letters can have multiple understood meanings (especially in texting culture) such as ‘u’ and ‘k,’ they don’t mean much without context. They just seem like letters.

Thus I chose the ‘and’ character.

I still had the challenge of making it into a unique logo to contend with. Choosing a unique font was one option, but upon looking into unique fonts I found that most made the symbol entirely unrecognizable without the context of the rest of the font. So I chose to pick a standardized font and then to modify the symbol a bit to stand out.

This by itself still did not give the impression of a logo and wouldn’t be eye-catching on any product or ad, so I decided to make the symbol into a cutout of a general shape. Often this is seen as a cutout of a circle or a square. While these are serviceable concepts for many businesses I wanted something with a bit more ‘pop’. I think these bubbles belong here.
