Finally finished this !! ヽ( ・ヮ・)ﾉ
I mean, by my standards it actually wasn't that long haha, only about a week or so. ; v ; Snew is just too speedy for words omg- |D
I just got super stumped on the shading for some reason, but I think it turned out okay in the end! (＾▽＾)ﾉ
These two precious characters are sneww 's Mitsu and Nori, two childhood friends who lived in an orphanage before finding themselves in a home that isn't what it seems- I really like how close they are despite the contrast between their personalities, so I tried to show that a little here. ouo;
Snew's art of them has always been super rad and I've really enjoyed seeing her draw them, so I was really looking forward to try drawing them too! c':
Hopefully I got everything right! I've always got this thing where I wanna make sure the characters look like themselves but. Also still be in my style, if that makes any sense.
It's hard but I really enjoy the challenge! (´,,・ω・,,｀)
I just want it to be known that I absolutely adore shading hair / fur / literally anything I can detail this way though LOL. My fave- >w>;
I also had a ton of fun with detailing in general haha, making shiny eyes and doing scales are sosososo fun! ; u ;
I feel like I've progressed so much since I started drawing people seriously and this was kind of like. A really nice project that touched on everything I've learned and practiced since then. ; v ;
Aaah anyway, I'm really happy with how this turned out and I'm super glad I had the opportunity to trade with you, Snew!

I think it's a practice and experience sort of thing, it'd probably help a lot to do real life studies!
I usually have an ok time with it by just breaking things down into simple 3D shapes and visuallizing it that way- and, of course, soft-shading is much more forgiving than cel-shading imo. >w>;
I also have an easier time of it if I throw an entire layer of shading down, and then erase the parts that would be lit. c:
But that works better if you have a shading-heavy style like I do haha. =v=

I do hate my shading a lot less ever since I started doing soft shading.

Ahhhh thank you so much though !! I'm so touched that you noticed all the little details and things kjdjjf I'm so cry at all these nice words ; o ; I don't even know what to say to 50% of it because it's just like SUPER APPRECIATIVE FEELS !! and I don't know how to put that into words LMAO.
I'm especially glad that I got their facial features right !! It's so important to me personally to draw different characters differently so I'm really really happy to hear that I succeeded. ; v ; It's such a fun challenge and it will forever be my goal to translate characters into my style while still keeping them recognizable haha. ; w ;
Also I love drawing scales like this which I totally didn't realize until recently LMAO, but I was so glad to get a chance to play with them again haha. I'm really glad you like them too! ovo
