Cutting it kind of close here, oops! D:

It's.. it's finally done- ;o;
I don't know how I managed it, but it's done and I'm really proud of myself for going through with it!

Lately I've felt like my gallery's been getting more and more boring, because it seems like everything I draw nowadays has become 'shaded fullbody floating in space'- like I've lost the life I used to have in my art. ;-;

So I was already pretty determined to do another full background picture for FAP, following the tradition of the other two I've participated in. :b

This month, I was given glowb as my exchange partner, and I decided to draw her character, Starling . I went ahead and sketched out the thing a month ago, but I wasn't sure what to do with the background.

But then I thought that she'd look nice with some birch trees, and suddenly I decided that birch trees and snow would be really lovely. ;u; I had the specific colour scheme in mind too, lots of blues and purples to make the landscape look wintery, but not harsh. uwu

In the end, I'm really happy with what I ended up with! Snow is something I've never really drawn well, and this entire thing was a huge experiment for me, haha! I'm really proud of the tree shadows in particular, and how they lie across the snow. c:
I'm also really happy that my birch trees look like birch trees, it was a nice change from the typical old, thick bark I usually draw. :b

Something I do need to work on though, is drawing backgrounds that match the character better. As of right now, I have a tendency to paint my backgrounds, and I think the character stands out a bit much. I'll probably try to use more outlines in the background next time, for better consistency. ouo;

The other thing I need to remember for next time is to up the contrast a bit more. I think the background turned out a bit lighter than I meant it to, but you know. For next time. c':

The Skyward Sword soundtrack got me through this honestly. Thank goodness for Zelda. =w=;

Anyway, this was a ton of fun and I'm really happy that drawing this has been such an inspiration. Reasons why FAP is awesome. c':
