Description A little something I scrapped together last night and during the occasional stolen moment today. Pencil under ink on standard sketchbook paper, dropped into PS7 where I added the tone and then the loose highlights. I want to throw a really simple color version together later tonight, because I'm lately of the opinion (actually, not that lately... this has been bugging me for some time) that my portfolio here has way too much pencil work, and it's beyond time that I began properly playing with color.

The recent HTF project left me with a real appreciation for the effects of low saturation and how colors can affect the areas around them, espescially pure greys picking up the tone from surrounding colors to become warm or cool. This particular color has a saturation point at about 15 (Hue at about 50, I think, Value of -25), and I kinda dig it's subtlety.

Or maybe that's just me.

On the character: Half-Elven (gotta be half-elven, buxom as she be) assassin-thief type, clinging to a stalk of bamboo with her toes while preparing to draw that long-ass, curved needle of a sword she's got strapped across her back.. No more backstory than that, I'm afraid... feel free to dream up one of your own. Just don't go nabbing the image for your D&D game without asking, first. I'm pretty good about these things when asked.

Longtime watchers probably recognize some of the costume elements from previous designs. I've reused that harness running across, around and under her breasts at least a half-dozen times now, and it's probably about time I start thinking up something new in that department. I ripped her pants partly from the Capcom design for Ibuki, and the hat is something I've used before as well. The sword is very Amano, think "D", and the armor is a mishmash of stuff from Berserk, Artesia, and the real designs of Germanic armor from about 400 years ago or so.

Soooooo... not a lot of originality, I must confess. >_<

Love the pose, love the work done. She reminds me of a girl I used to know. (Her nickname was elf, so go figure.)

Don't know enough to crit, 'cept to say that the nipple imprints should be higher, but that is just my personal preference. Over all, I would say good work.

About how much time did it take you to do this one?

Probably about 4 hours for both line art and colors so far...

I think is awsome, but don't beet your self up too much over originality. There isn't a lot of original stuff out there any more. Is what you do with the ideas that been given to the world, and apply your own touch that makes an idea Fresh. That what the new game is about. At least I think so.

You, backswards, and Jessy, are my heros...and my friends.

Thank you for inspirering me...keep it up

A very slick character design. I like the pose and all the details, though I think the nipple imprints are a bit unnecesary here. The handle of her sword also looks paper thin and flat, which only came to my attention because of all the other details being so well shaded and rendered. Overall, very nice work.

I absolutly love her hands!
crit-the perspective on the body isnt right, it looks short rather than her leaning over. Lenthening it slightly, defining the muscels so they are compressed and curved and curving the strap so you see more of the top thickness would help.

btw could i possibly have a go at colouring this if i get time?

I wouldn't object if someone wanted to take a crack at coloring it. But wait until I post a larger B&W version.

Yeah, the torso is too compressed. Also, her left foot is longer than her right, and her left arm also longer than her right (though I tried to cheat it some in perspective implied by the curve of the straps and so forth, but not enough to compensate). And I think one of her eyes is slightly higher than the other.

I never spot this crap until way after it's too late. *sigh*

What i've immediatly recognized you used many times before was that square patron on the pants. Love that Ibuki pants, and the mixture you've made with all details. Nice

In retrospect I think I should have gone with a more diamond-shaped Harlequin-type pattern. If I was to ink this, I could probably fix some of these mistakes, but one of the things I was trying here was to make the pencils part of the finished look.

I like the detail in the image, the inking is really top stuff , but on the down side, i have never known a half elf female to have breasts that large lol but other than that I think its a very well inked/penciled image 8/10 for yah mate!

Inkthinker In reply to ForsakenDarkness [2005-06-29 03:51:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, see, that's why she's half-elven... she obviously didn't get that trait from her fey side!

Yeah, I'm terrible.

GodsLittleHeathen [2005-06-29 02:14:26 +0000 UTC]

Very neat. Looks kinda cartoony from the shape and size of her eyes as well as the placement of the nose, ears and mouth... Pretty much the whole face in general. It's a very intereting design, she's got lots of character.

Also that armband looks alot like the one from your Witchi-Kun drawing.

Variant of same, yeah... which is, of course, an idea I picked up from Kosuke Fujishima. I think Urd was wearing something like that in an Oh! My Goddess arc.

GodsLittleHeathen In reply to Inkthinker [2005-06-29 02:22:08 +0000 UTC]

Well that's definitely an interesting factoid.

Also I'd like to add that I finally shaded my colored version of witchi-kun as you suggested almost a year ago ago.
