I am convinced you can make anything with paper. Almost every bit of it is paper in one form or another. The figures are paper clay over wire armature. The hair and clothing are made of paper ranging from tissue, flocked, handmade, embossed, velum to unbleached coffee filters. Because of scale everything had to be handmade.Obvious influence, the ballroom scene from Labyrinth. Though it was never intended for this to be fan art, it kinda turned out that way. Because the paper behaved differently, the original concept of her being fair haired and him dark got switched. Not so obvious influence, Stephanie Blythe's The Kiss (whose obvious influence was Klimt's The Kiss) I was not so much influenced by the pose of her dolls, but the intimacy between the two.

Yes the figures are paper clay over a wire armature, hair and clothing are various types of paper. unbleached coffee filter, tissue, hand made paper, etc. the only things that are not paper are the flowers, pearls, and mushrooms which are porcelain air dry clayΒ his branch crown, (puff paint on wire) and some beads and feathers, twigs, etc.

Yes it is about 98% paper. The rest % is beads,,jump rings, some watch guts, etc. If I remember correctly if he wasn't leaning in to her he would be about 10 inches. Could be wrong, I will measure and update. No I could not. I am ashamed at how long it took me to complete this, but patience and persistence was a key ingredient.

You are too hard on yourself- it is magnificent. The details- or the leaves and scales in his coat, or her hair even, are astounding.
