Since the beginning of Equestria, there have been special ponies born with the ability to manipulate the elements; regardless if they were unicorns or not. These mages were known as “Mancers”. There were able to control nine of the forces of nature; fire, water, earth, air, plants, darkness, light, lightning or electricity, and the spirits of the dead.

Pyromancers tamed fire. Aquamancers governed water. Terramancers ordered the earth. Aeromancers conducted the air. Floramancers controlled plants. Shadowmancer and Luxomancers bent darkness and light to their will. Electromancers directed lightning. Necromancers summoned forth the spirits of the dead.

Each element had its own special mark which each Mancer would have as their Cutie Mark. Mancers have dwindles in numbers and they are very rare in this day and age. However, there are some born every few generations.

Necromancers summon forth the spirits of the dead to aid them in their needs. They are realists and empathetic. They are often shunned and thought of as evil; though most of them help those spirits who have not moved on with their final requests. They are the smallest group out of Mancers out of all the elements.

These here are the Spiritual Necromancers or Pure Necromancers. They can talk freely with spirits and can see them at all times.
