So what exactly is the relationship with Una and Zim?

To summarize it, pretty much companions. They both weren't in the beginning... pretty much, they both had feelings of resentment and just pure annoyance towards each other. However, in due time... a certain serious event took place, and feelings started to show and change for the better at least towards one another. Despite the new unexpected relation that formed, Zim is still pretty much a REAL jerk towards Una sometimes... especially when he teases her... but deep down, he's developed a very deep soft spot towards the new nuisance in his life after the first couple of weeks ;when he found their constant arguing and fighting over the most silliest of things secretly funny and amusing on his behalf. He refuses to acknowledge it, but it's true. Just like his strange attachment towards his arch-enemy relations with Dib, he started to develop a similar attachment towards Una now with the beginning of this companionship etc. that he's never tried before. Only that it's more mutual and meaningful. Zim's mind can work very strangely sometimes, you know? xD
As for Una, she's become somewhat more softer towards Zim now after that serious event. She developed feelings for his friendship and has developed precious feelings towards her new companion in due time. Since she's also defective, it wouldn't be seen as all that surprising that the new correlation of playful teasing and arguing between the two of them became fun and irreplaceable but also still very annoying... especially if Zim gets carried away sometimes. To finish it off, that's just how the bond gets stronger between the two of them. ^.^
