bought on gum road!! I've been pixelling for a long while so a lot of that was familiar to me but still worth it! one thing I have yet to try is anti-aliasing... one thing I gotta ask is sorta, how to choose the colors for the anti-aliasing pixels? is it just more or less variations of nearby colors or is there more to it?

hi hi! so sorry for the late reply *__* thank you first of all for buying it!! nwn anti-aliasing! for the colors, i usually use the color in between the two colors i'm trying to blend. you'll be able to eyeball it as you practice, but one way to do it is this:

say i wanted to anti-alias between a blotch of red and a blotch of blue. in order to get a nice in-between color to blend, i might color pick the red, make a new layer, and put some of that red over the blue. then, i'd turn the new layer's opacity down to 50%, color pick that new color, and boom! a good in-between color. you can then delete the new layer and move on to anti-aliasing with your new color.

i hope i explained that okay? i'd make a little video of it if i had my screen recording program *__* let me know if you need more help!

I really liked how simple this tutorial was, and also it was really awesome to see your process! This is probably really forward- but what program do you like to use to pixel in? And how do you normally resize your pixels without losing quality?
I recently did some pixel work in photoshop for the first time in years, and when I went to go resize it like I used to- it came out totally blurry. I don't know if the newer photoshop changed stuff, but it's totally thrown me for a loop and I've avoided pixeling ever since.

thank you so much!! and thanks for buying it *W* and it's not forward at all, i'm here to help! i use photoshop cc for my pixels now, but i've used and loved paint tool sai in the past. i'm assuming you mean to enlarge pixels, while keeping sharp edges? i don't think it's possible to do in paint tool sai, but in photoshop, do this:

go to image (at the top) > image size... and then type in the new dimensions. for example, if you want a 2x size version of a 100x100 sprite, type in 200x200 etc! the important part here is to make sure resample is checked, and nearest neighbor is selected on that drop down menu. like this:

basically, there are different resample presets that alter the algorithm photoshop uses when altering canvas sizes. nearest neighbor conserves original pixel placement without adding any extra anti-aliasing, which is why we use it for pixel art!

i hope that helps!!

That definitely helps- thank you so much!! And I use photoshop CC too! I used to use CS4 so it's a big jump for me haha!! I'm honestly frustrated with CC because ever since I got it, for some reason I'll go to place a pixel and the program will place it about 2 or three pixels OFF from where it was intended. Idk if that reads correctly in text form, but basically I can't look at my cursor and know it's going to be placed where the cursor is- it's usually a few pixels off from wherever I have the cursor hovering. And to make matters worse- it's not constant? So sometimes it'll be like 2 off to the right and sometimes it's 3 off to the left. It's driven me so crazy trying to figure out how to place pixels that I've pretty much given up.

aw jeez that sounds like such a nuisance!! i'm sorry ;0; i've never personally had that issue before, so i'm not sure how big of a help i can be. i'd try recalibrating whatever drawing tool you use, but if that's not it, try to google it? i'm sorry i can't help you with that! it sounds so frustrating x__x
