Description
Hajen Class Fleet Submarine, a workhorse of the Submarine Service during the TYW, post STÖRUND refit.

Intended as a cheaper stop-gap solution until sufficient numbers of Sjövargen and Sjödraken class boats (also undergoing STÖRUND modernization) were back in service. Equipped with passive acoustic torpedoes, they would form the backbone of the Cold War submarine fleet for most of the 1950s, before moving to secondary roles and later decommissioning by 1967. Four examples would be sold to Meyuraua as foreign aid.
The upgrades would mainly include a passive sonar detection system (replacing the aft torpedo room) and a larger streamlined sail that improved underwater mobility.
