backstory:

after the monsters were freed and relocated, sans was optimistic about finally living free on the surface. but after witnessing the hostility towards monsters, he stayed low and tried to avoid attention to protect his brother and himself.

when his brother was arrested, sans didn't hesitate for a second to help him. fully aware of the monsters' exploitations, he demonstrated his magical abilities to show his usefulness. it worked and he got a deal; working for the government in exchange for his brothers' freedom. sans agreed and had to leave the city to get special training.

after a few years, he heard about the virus outbreak in the city his brother lived. as an very competent agent, he was hired by the GRE and given the task to retrieve a sensitive file that was stolen, which could potentially lead to a cure.

he agreed to the condition only to search and rescure his brother from the quarantine city.

appearance

sans is a slightly taller skeleton monster with an often neutral or sometimes smiling expression.

upon his arrival at the tower, he got his old jacket back and it always seems to be covered in old and new bloodstains from fighting and killing infected. he also wears black cargo pants with pockets, a leg holster, random sneakers, fingerless gloves and a crossed chest holster with his main weapon, a dark machete, attached to it.

personality

sans character hasn't changed much since he lived in the underground, but he shook off his nihilism in order to focus on the task at hand. his attitude is still rather depressed and tired of life, but his brother's search and rescue keeps him going.

sans is still fond of puns and making others laugh, but his humor shifts more often to sarcasm. he is also up to date with popular culture and likes to make subtle references and allusions.

his training as an agent has made him a more enduring and courageous individual, relying even more on tactics and maneuverability and he tries to analyze his opponent and anticipate his moves.

since he had to leave the city and his brother behind, he has become incredibly lonely. however, due to his time on the surface and the open hostility towards monsters, he has also become more warily against strangers, but tries to come across as neutral as possible.
