NOTE: This is just speculation. Emma Watson isn't playing Wasp/Janet Van Dyne, but wouldn't it be cool if she did? Personally, Emma Watson is, in my opinion, one of the greatest actresses currently in the movie business. I think she really has proven herself as an actress, not just as Hermione Granger from Harry Potter (which don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan), but her other films as well. I think she would be perfect for the role of Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that's just me.What are your thoughts? Is Watson a good pick? Or do you have someone else in mind?

Well, we already know she can play a hero, so that's not a problem.
This would really depend on who would be playing Hank Pym. She's got the look for the part, but in the Wasp-Pym duo, Pym would be the straight-man to Wasp's comedian role. So far I've only seen Emma as the straight-man. Also, she's mostly been playing the "The Smartest Person in the Room" role for 8 movies, so seeing her give up that position to Stark/Banner/Pym for this role would make quite a change from what we're used to. But hopefully she's a good enough actress to pull it off (we don't need another casting like Jessica Alba as Sue Storm anytime soon)
As for the age part, that is irrelevant. Wasp is a small gal and should be played by someone with a youthful but elegant appearance. Emma can do that.
As for my choice for Wasp. I still go Mila Kunis, but Emma would be my second choice.

Also, and I just remembered this, I think Emma Watson can nail a comedy role, and still be a backseat character. Though the movie hasn't been released yet, she'll be in This is The End playing as herself. So we just may get to see her do pretty well in that too, even though it seems the role may be brief.

Best comment so far. I really like your opinion on this matter. Age is irrelevant and I kinda agree with your statement about Emma being more of a leading role rather than a backseat character, but in an ensemble like say an Avengers movie I feel all of the characters are leading in their own way, so if she (or whoever Marvel decides to pick) were ever to play the role I think she'd fit in perfectly, but you're right about Pym being the straight-man role being that it's an Ant Man film.
Personally I believe Emma could pull it off though, I think she'd have a much bigger role in an Ant Man movie versus any of the other female love interests in the other standalone films. Mila would make an awesome Wasp too. She'd make a great fit for Wasp's comedian role. Either way, who ever Marvel decides to cast as Wasp, I'm sure it'll be a great fit, they've done an amazing job with their casting since they started making movies. Thanks again for the comment

Maybe a little bit too young, but Jennifer Lawrence plays roles way older than her. Emma is capable of do that too.

If she can pull off Wasp's bubbly, fun, heroic nature, then yep.
Although I would not be surprised if they casted an Asian actress for the role though, as a nod to Ultimate.

I do't think its ever specified, though Hank was at least in his thirties when he met Jan, being that he was qualified in multiple fields (which would take years to accomplish) and had previously been married. Jan was, by contrast, in her early twenties at best. So, there's roughly a ten year age.
Given that Reed and Sue also had a pretty big age gap as well, Stan Lee seems awfully fond of middle aged scientists marrying young attractive women.

Not a bad choice, though not one I'd pick myself. I've only seen her in Harry Potter, so I don't know how well she can play an American. I'd also proffer if they went the Ultimate Route and made her Asian (though nothing else from the Ultimate verse, Ultimates really failed when it came to Jan), since all the other Avengers are Caucasian, they could use more diversity.
As noted elsewhere, she might also be too young, though I don't mind the idea of Jan being younger than the others.
