Description A day late, I know, but happy belated Easter anyway! I tried to finish in time, but weather, health issues, and technical difficulties were determined to thwart me. This Easter witch's name is Beatrix Bunné. Her name draws inspiration from the author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.

It may or may not be obvious, but the quality here is a little different than my usual style of work. The lines are not quite as clean and are a bit thicker than what I usually work with. That's because I'm using a new tablet!. I could have gone back and cleaned up the rough edges, but this was more an experiment, a practice piece to get a feel for how the new tablet works. I'm transitioning from a small screenless Wacom Intuos to a massive 15.6 screen XP-Pen Artist Pro, so definitely a big change for me, and I'm loving it so far!

Prior to making this piece, I didn't know that Easter witches were actually a thing. Apparently in Sweden and parts of Finland, they celebrate a sort of Halloween-like tradition in which children dress in long skirts and rags, carrying kettles to collect treats. This tradition started from the belief that witches would fly to the German mountain on the Thursday before Easter to cavort with Satan, and Swedish families would ward off their return with fires to scare them away. I might start my own tradition of drawing Easter witches every year.

I'm open for commissions!
