Description

Part of my Trek Redesign effort, this is my take on Jadzia Dax from Deep Space Nine. I took inspiration from the original Trill appearance on Next Generation with the forehead design and played with the leopard-like spots from DS9. I pushed her facial features into a more feline direction. To emphasize the 'worm' of her symbiote, I gave her tendrils instead of hair. The markings/makeup are in pairs to represent duality of the trill, and vertical the sets of seven represent her previous hosts. I tried dual features, but double mouths and nose and eyes wound up looking silly. So, I settled on double irises. Finally, I played with skin color to make her a little more alien.

Like this design. Nicely alien, but still doable on screen.

And it still looks like Terry Farrell!  Great work!

Interesting that you'd give her an intentionally feline appearance, considering the fact that Terry Farrell actually played the Cat in the pilot for the aborted US remake of Red Dwarf.

It was really a reaction to the leopard-like quality of the trill spot design. Didn't know that about her role in Red Dwarf.

Ah, and I was thinking it was just because she conveys a kind of feline-like quality.  She was actually the second person cast as the Cat for the Red Dwarf remake.  They originally got Hinton Battle (who fans of Buffy may know best as the demon Sweet from that show's musical episode), but I guess someone felt the show needed more sex appeal, so he was replaced by Terry Farrell.  It didn't make any difference in the end, considering that the pilot never got picked up for series, which is just as well.  I watched a bootleg video of it once and it was pretty bad.
