Been awhile since I watched this show, too bad they cancelled it after 2 seasons, whereas that Avengers Assemble show gets 5+
Pretty cute

That's as a result of the Disney purchase

Forgot, but when exactly did Disney buy Marvel? Because I think this series only started showing after Disney bought it. That said, definitely not watching their MCU-Inspired Shows.

Avengers EMH was cancelled after the purchase as was Spectacular Spiderman. After that they went into developing the new shows in the new regimeΒ

Why couldn't they just transfer ownership of that? Also, new regime.....the Mouse is a greedy bastard you don't mess with....but I think it was being bought by them that helped them keep going down regardless of money-loss

Well Marvel had only recently survived bankruptcy. Disney purchased a recovering comic company. With that Disney wanted a clean slate to begin from so shows were axed regardless of how well they might have been doingΒ

That's pretty sad, are there at least spin-off/sequel comics of it like how the DCAU did with Batman Beyond?
I'll be honest, I haven't been able to watch the full two seasons, but it'd kinda feel frustrating if like Young Justice I don't see what "happens next" for years and only seeing fanfics

Doubt it. Disney has abandoned all that in favor of there new stuff. DC does it because they don't have to deal with a purchase

To be fair, more kids are fans of the MCU than possibly the previous Marvel cartoons, how else to cash-in-on-it?
God, I'm waiting for the day the MCU finally ends.....somehow hoping for it do so in failure from going crazy.....yeah that's a weird feeling I got
Though, I'd think they could afford to have two or more Avengers Cartoons, separately. Just cancelling the older series, sounds like a dick move done by some guy who thinks he's making smart business decisions....somehow
As for DC, to be fair, I think it was due to low-toy-sales, though honestly I'm pretty sure kids'd be more into collecting and playing violent video games instead these days

Excellent work on Wasp! Definitely my favorite version of the character, fun personality and cute outfit to boot. I wish Earth's Mightiest Heroes was still running, way better than any other Marvel toon Disney has produced since.Β

I've noticed Janet's current costume is modeled after this: Yellow/black with a skirt.Β It just has all the current toppings where it looks thicker and overly complicated with extra lines and ripples so it doesn't look like spandex.Β Personally I wouldn't mind it if the new Wasp, Hank's daughter, wore it since she's about the same age even if she doesn't have the same quirky personality as Janet did from EMH.Β She really made me smile with every scene she was in.

Me too.Β EMH, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Wolverine and the X-Men were all so good and apparently were all made to serve in the same universe.Β I get why SSM and W&tXM were cancelled due to licensing issues but it baffles me that Disney deemed EMH a failure.Β Everyone I knew loved it and I couldn't find nothing but positive word of mouth about it on the internet.Β It's the exact opposite for Avengers Assemble which Disney deems a success despite the negative feedback from fans and the online community.

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2018-05-27 05:49:17 +0000 UTC]
Apathy: That is the perfect description of how Marvel has become since Disney bought it.Β The company doesn't care about old character designs, old story telling, or old legacy of their characters.Β They're constantly reinventing the wheel and everything that came before is garbage.
Erik Lawson, creator of Savage Dragon and a long time writer/artist on Spider-Man got into a small twitter spat with Jim Zub this week over the redesigns of his lady villain team the Femme Fatales.
Erik's original baddies: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/maβ¦
The redesigns: pbs.twimg.com/media/Dd493RCVwAβ¦
Erik didn't mince words.Β He flat out said these designs looked awful and made them look less like super-villains and more like club boppers.Β Poor Jim tried to be polite but you could tell he couldn't say that Marvel won't tolerate spandex costumes and wild outfits anymore.

Sadly true. There is a movement for more tasteful costumes.... which I personally don't agree with

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2018-05-27 16:34:38 +0000 UTC]
Mark Millar was the first one who did this with The Ultimates since he really wanted that comic to like a big budget Hollywood blockbuster and I think like Watchmen before it, creators have taken the wrong lessons from it and think that this is how all comics need to be.Β Then came that stupid Spider-Woman uproar a few years later and now the industry is afraid of spandex because of outrage.
Now Marvel and a bit of DC have become so generic in design and story telling.Β It's funny but it's been years since I saw a brand new Marvel character who had a design I really liked.Β Miles Morales Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen are the only ones I can think of and it's been over 5 years since they hit the newsstands.Β That's just sad.

Inspector97 In reply to WDCain [2018-05-27 16:48:40 +0000 UTC]
The Ultimates was a cool idea... obviously influenced by the X-Men movies. The costumes made more "real". But I still think superhero costumes should look like costumes, not casual wear. Wearing the costume makes you the target, separates you from the normals who you protect. If heroes dress like fanboys... or fan boys dress up as the heroes... this would happen a lotΒ youtu.be/ofw3mS_vymA

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2018-05-27 17:10:31 +0000 UTC]
That scene always gets me.
Whenever I see creators revamping classic costumes, I keep remembering that interview with Zach Snyder about the new Superman costume for MoS where he and his crew kept going on how they "finally fixed Superman" like the red trunks was the only thing keeping WB from making a DC cinematic universe.Β It was a really pretentious interview because I could tell he really believed it and I think most creators honestly believe this.
It's one reason I follow Erik Lawson's twitter is that he goes into very fascinating lectures about comics, design, story telling, and layout (a couple days ago he gave an excellent one about reflections in comics).Β One thing that he constantly has to stress is you can have the characters wear spandex and still show it being bullet-proof or such thing because of something like unstable molecules or whatever because it's comics.Β You can do whatever you can to make the story work.
I've always been a big fan of Erik's work, from his time on Doom Patrol to Amazing Spider-Man and finally Savage Dragon.Β He's probably the only big time 90s artist who's still working full time drawing a comic instead of just doing covers like so many other talents like Jim Lee, J. Scott Campbell, and Frank Cho.
