This is so amazing, Crayon. The art, the drama, the dialogue, the expressions... It's all done incredibly. I really like the dynamic between Tom and Mary. It's true that Tom isn't the best person to talk to when it comes to these kinds of problems, but it's really good to see more of his concerned side. He brought about a scariness to him at the end, this is true, but there was sort of a weird softness to his character at the same time. You can tell Tom has a heart... He's just not the role model type in such situations, especially in Mary's case. He defiantly made a point about her, though. Mary seems to enjoy killing bad people (or at least feels a twisted sense of justice in doing so), as much it disgusts her to admit that.

You're right about Mary relishing in the deaths of bad people, despite of going against her morals. :c
It's funny that I originally intended Mary in TOUGH to be some kind of anti-hero who got fed up with
St. Petston's huge crime rate and TOUGH's corruption within, she secretly became a vigilante,
which can be an contrast to Tom's own secret life. Two lovers with secret allegiances to opposite sides can
give some interesting situations XD
That idea got scrapped tho, but I kept most of her intended backstory, part of it is shown in this comic.
Pretty ironic tho, that Mary is confiding her guilt towards killing people to Tom of all people, who's pretty
much okay with it lol. At least he tries his best to comfort her in his own way.
It can be probable tho that he's projecting his own internalized guilt to her... As in he's telling her stuff that
he wanted to tell himself deep inside.

With all her skills in hunting, determination and dedication towards making a shitty, lawless, crime-ridden hellhole a better place for people, Mary seems to be all set to be TOUGH's undisputed best agent. The only thing that brought her out of commission is having a (metaphoric) heart.
It only shows that not all people has the mental fortitude to be agents/cops/soldiers/superheroes?.
It doesn't help that Tom actually wanted her to break down and expose her vulnerabilities to him; that's where shit gets creepy :c
I really wanted to not only show a bit more of Mary's story, but also underscore her more sinister side and her borderline disturbing
dynamic with Tom.

That... Really bring a a whole new perspective between these two but mostly Mary, life is tough and many people can suffer in different ways like her.
The guilt that's building up is breaking mentally but she should know there's people that care her but unfortunately her fate is already established sadly.

There is a reason why TOUGH AU Mary is an alcoholic recluse who runs a flower shop...
She could have received proper care for her issues, but Tom actually wanted her to be that way. :c
idk I just wanted to establish Mary's character. :-/

Now this further proves Tom's true colors there, he may look like he care but deep down he actually wants her broken like everyone I think. :/
The way you did it is actually pretty good, this shows that not everyone is cut out for action.

yeah, Tom prefers broken things, that he can remake to his liking. 0-0
tbh I can't really say that he loves her, as far as the traditional meaning
of romance is concerned.
tru dat!

I do like crime stories like this, on the edge of a mental collaps.
Great comic work
