far from it. many restaurants offer deals on thanks giving, for those people that don't want to cook.

man, where were those restaurants! We decided to go out to eat during thanksgiving, but found out later that every place was closed, so we quickly hit up walmart and made up thanksgiving dinner pretty quick, but still a sizable meal =3

Maybe it's different here because we live near a retirement community. Many old people who don't want to go to the trouble of cooking a huge meal.
